I am eventually gonna record a book of sayings like this that people told me! I will have like a dozen books on Mae sayings. This is from Prince Otakar Redrain. I had a sudden moment of hope when he was giving this advice. I win battle after battle and spar after spar. When I don't win a spar, I think it take it well. We will see if I can keep my Grayson pride under control if I lose against Sir Jeffeth tomorrow! He is very very good and he beat me in a spar before. But I realized this advice could be applied socially too! And Socially is probably were I need to apply it. I don't need to take every social defeat of whatever kind personal, but get up, carry on and dust myself off and learn the lesson! He is a pretty smart prince. I am doing to learn to walk gracefully in social defeat or at least try. I might trip over my ribbons.

Relationship Note on Aiden
He took up command of the archers and has been at my side on the Gray Forest missions. He has never faltered in his duty has consistently been brave, honorable and skilled. I wasn't sure about making him a commander in the army at first, but I didn't have the eyes to truly see him and now I am so very glad that I did. Aiden seems sensitive at times. He seems quiet at times, but this the quiet of one who is empathic, who is aware, who is present, who cares, who is intelligent and who thinks deeply.
He has experienced heart break and lose. Lord Killian and Lady Aislin where his friends. Baron Silas and him broke up. Many would wouldn't rise after all that, but he did, he soared. He took command of the Grayson troops at the last moment. And he didn't just take command and he didn't just take leadership, but he rocked it. He made the right calls. He worked hard. He collaborated with Princess Marian and Marquis Mydas. I believed he saved many lives along with Marian and Mydas. He stepped up when their was a need. A true leader, a true commander adjusts, steps up and does what needs to be done and that was Aiden.
As many know Baron Estaban and Aiden were very close. My heart breaks when I think of his sorrow. I can say or do nothing to salve this pain and I am so sorry. Estaban would be be proud. He is proud of what you have done at Stromwall, Aiden. You are a great man.
Keep Soaring. We need you. Grayson needs you. Our army needs you. The Gray Forest needs you. I need you.

Relationship Note on Serafine
When I was a little Reese, losing all my spars, didn’t have command over anything, not even a litter of kittens, Serafine was kind to me. She would spar with me, train with me, showed great patient for my lack of ability and yet it went deeper than that. Princess Serafine also showed faith, hope and belief with me. She was this tiny, badass, powerhouse of a warrior and when I looked upon her, I felt hope that I could also be badass.
One of mine earlier experiences with her was when we went into the Grayson forest to escort refugees back. Duke Dagon was the leader of the mission and Princess Serafine was there. This really stands out to me, because it was my first mission into the Gray Forest. Many more would follow, but Serafine was there at the first. She fought so well, but that is not what I remember most about her on this mission. There was a little girl there and Serafine showed this great kindness to her and all the other children refugees there. She was there as a warrior, but she showed a motherly love to those who lost everything to Brand.
Another memory that stands out is when Lord Ansel showed opened the now famous gauntlet for the very first time. He opened it at a Ministry of Defense meeting, back in the day, when I was all wide-eyed and just amazed to be welcome at such meetings at all. Serafine was there with Leta and this was the first time I realize notice the intense and great love between them. It is hard to fully put this into words what happened there as we all ran the gauntlet, but the spark between them was so intense and it wasn’t just the spark of lust, although that was there. It was the deeper bond of a full and trusting alliance. I believe that Leta fell off one of the obstacles if I remember right, but it was so long ago, but the memory of Serafina at her side after that fall is a powerful one.
As most know and as nobody needs said, Princess Serafine was an amazing warrior princess who fought battle after battle. She is a hero against Silence and she is a hero against the sea beast. She is example for other warrior princesses to follow. She is badass while still being be real, humble, kind, mothering and approachable. Very few badasses well ever be as chill and as unhindered by pride as Princess Serafine There is none like her and never will be again.

I write as the most recent acting admiral of the Grayson Fleet and as a member of the Untied Fleet of Compact. It is with a heavy heart that I write about what happened as my thoughts are still with Baron Estaban and Princess Serafina. That being said those who went with the Grayson fleet should still be acknowledged.
Princess Lou. My sister was at my side through both battles using her cross bow. She was also there in case something happened to me as she is trained in sailing and it would give us someone to step up and take a command. It huge deal as she learned to sail so she would be able to do such. I was very glad to have there with me.
Prince Luca. Prince Luca was our badass heavy hitter of the Grayson fleet during the battle. He fought those who boarded our ship, allowing me to focus my efforts on sailing and commanding. Luca took out an arrow that was headed right for me before it reached me and I believe it largely having Luca right that protecting that kept me from getting hurt and kept in a position where I could primarily command. It goes beyond that though, he kicked ass, he defeated many of our foes. He showed no fear and constant great skill.
Princess Isolde. She joined the Grayson fleet in the final battle and it was no small thing. Her prayers and inspiration gave us the courage to continue even as the odds seemed against us. She helped the Grayson warriors to fight past the fear. Princess Isolde was seriously injured while on my ship, something that I greatly regret. She reached a healer and I believe and hope she will be okay. She has my gratitude.
Lord Graham. He was a powerful warrior with the Grayson fleet fighting the foes with his sword and making a difference in the battle. I was honored and please to have him with us.
Lady Arianna. She also joined our ship, fighting against our foes, showing great bravery, but also serving as protector to Princess Isolde and carrying her way from danger after she was injured.
Lady Peri. She was commanding the ships of our vassals and she was awesome in so many ways, persistent, fearless and brave. She continued to command while injured. She kept her ships close to the Grayson ships and we worked as a team and with great success. Lady Peri’s skills in naval warfare something to be admired.
Lord Kaldur. He was at his sister’s side through the whole battle, being her sword while she commanding and taking injuries. He never backed down, never showed fear and instead showed a willingness to do whatever was needed to keep his sister in a position of being able to command.
This journal just covers the those when went with the Grayson ships or the ships our vassals. I hope to speak more about others who came later. We were just a part of the United Fleet of Compact and were deeply honored to sever under High Lord Victus’ command with our allies.

Relationship Note on Estaban
I have many memories of Estaban. The fights with him on the sparing grounds, the long talks about my trouble with women (he was so understanding and insightful), his work with the Iron Guard, his heroism at the siege of silence, his work on Gray Forest missions, his loyalty to his friends, his caring nature, the hard work he put into his fighting and so much more. He saved my cousin’s life, Aiden. Prince Aiden did great work at the battle of Stormwall, but he wouldn’t be here to do that work if i wasn’t for Estaban. Esteban beloved and is beloved by Baroness Lucita. My thoughts and prayers are with her and their child. He choose an exceptional wife, but he is an exceptional man. Lucita was also bravely at the battle, risking her own life as well and doing great work to help protect us all.
My pain at losing Estaban is nothing compared to what Baroness Lucita and Prince Aiden most be feeling and yet it is still a deep pain. When I got back into the forest and start our missions once again, they will not be the same without Estaban. I have a painting I made for him, of a black panther in the gray forest. I gave him one copy and kept another for myself. I will treasure it always.

I report that Princess Lou handled herself wonderfully while we at sea, firing off arrow after arrow. I was blessed to have my sister and my husband with me aboard the pink Gryphon. Prince Luca fought for me when I was too busy commanding the ships to use my sword and in doing such, he protected me from many blows and kept our ship from being overrun with foes. The Grayson fleet did quite well in the battle. I was honored to have Lady Peri and her brother Lord Kaldur commanding the ships of our vassals and staying close to us. Lady Peri showed intense bravery, fighting on even as she was injured and her brother at her side was a huge asset. We are honored and proud to be part of the united fleet of compact and stand ready to face any further threats.

My most recent black journal includes my will and I would like my family to read the will, but keep the others private.
I pleased to able to say that as I go into battle, I am on better terms with my family than I have been. We haven't always got along, but I do love them and they where here for me as I prepared for this battle. My thoughts and prayer are with my family and with my friends and with compact.
Prince Luca joins the fleets battle at my side and so does my sister Lou. Lou learned to sail so that she could go with me and so that Grayson would have a second in command on our fleets. I was moved by her doing such. As we get ready to fight, Luca and me are closer than ever and I love him very much.
While most of my will is dark, I will say openly, I want my alatricite blade to go my sister Lou and to be pased to her daughter in time.
I do plan to come back from this battle alive, but if I do, I do want to tell Margot that I love her very much. I love her too Mae, even though she drives me nuts half the the time, no 90% of the time.

However, it is partly with this belief that I have been speaking with the commanders and generals of other factions. It is why I attended the Oathland military meeting. It is why I speak frequently with Duke Harald and have been his student in naval warfare. It is why I took sailing lessons with Master Magpie. It is why I regularly take time to speak with Princess Marian (she knows war!). I was impressed with the Oathlands meeting. Princess Alis and Prince Edain did an amazing job. It is why I work with my cousin, Princess Alarissa who cares deeply for Thrax and Grayson both. This is also why I am attending the Lyceum naval meeting. Duchess Belladonna has warmly welcomed me and is a great example of a woman who reaches beyond facton lines and does what needs to get done for Compact. With her at the helm, Setarco has much hope. With Princess Marian getting ready for battle Corvane has much hope. With Duke Harald summing the fleets of Thrax, Darkwater has much hope.

Relationship Note on Aislin
I haven't wrote on Aislin Ashford yet, partly because I hold out hope that she is out there on another adventure and might return to us soon. Without knowing the truth, I try not to assume anything. I don't where she is, what has happened and if she will return to us.
She was quite woman, meaning she didn't often raise her voice and she didn't often try to draw the focus to herself and yet as many know she had a great many things to say. When Aislin talks it is always worth listening to her. We hope to hear her voice again.
And right now it is quiet, too quiet. I know I am not alone in missing her. Her presence was a rock.

Relationship Note on Killian
When I first met Killian, I could barely fight and we spared and he beat me soundly and I looked up to him. He was gracious about my lack of skill, having patience, understanding and a willingness to teach me. That feels like forever ago now.
Then Killian became a paladin and fought Brand. He fought Brand, believing he would die and putting the safety of compact before his own life. He never hesitated. He never considered putting himself first.
When I started the missions into the forest to weaken the slaver’s influence, Killian never hesitated, he was one the first to sign up and one of the strongest and consistent believers in what I was doing. He fought in the forest. He lead missions. He was a rock. His faith never flattering, his fight against the abyss never stopping.
When Killian was badly scarred after taking on a foe of the abyss in the forest by himself, he never made a big deal about it and to those of us who loved and still love him, he was and is as beautiful as ever. His scars, the mark of a man willing to protect us all at any cost to himself.
I was called to Maelstrom before we even left the forest after we were done with a dangerous battle against agents of the slavers who attacked our camp. A battle we came close to losing and might have lost without Killian. The first words out of Killian were I will come with you. I started to wonder if we could handle it, Killian never did and his strength gave me strength.
We fought together at Maelstrom facing hordes of zombies who tried to storm the city and Killian’s blade hit true, again and again.
When the gods granted me a vision of something dangerous that must be done to protect Compact, Killian never hesitated to come with me into the forest, to fight the abyss again. Even when I said this might kill us. When I almost died in that forest, Killian was there for me and the abyss was defeated once more.
We ran into the murders of Dame Zhayla on the docks before they found her. I wanted to take them them alive, to question them, to have mercy. Killian knew their true nature. He chased after them. He saved Lord Karadoc’s life. He was almost killed. We went after Dame Zhayla’s killers, evil men he fought before and almost died to before and Killian never hesitated, he never wavered. Getting these men helped to protect us all in ways that cannot be fully explained in a journal.
Killian used his last breath, his last words, giving us the way to defeat her killers. The way to stop their evil, the way to save ourselves. We lived because of his plan. Dame Zhayla’s murders were destroyed because of his plan and compact is safer because his actions that day.
Lord Killian Ashford is a hero. Our lives are dimmer without him and yet we will continue the fight against the abyss. Killian would want nothing more than then abyss to be defeated and us to fight on, I believe.
