Pretty cool for a silk. Well, anyone who gives me free alcohol is cool in my books.

Relationship Note on Samantha

Ran into her at the Trader's. Stare at her a lot, which might have been a little creepy, but in my defense I was looking for potential coin.

She knows my name, if she wants to throw coin my way, she'll find me.

Relationship Note on Samantha

I had a very enjoyable dinner with the Marquesa Deepwood last night. She hosts a lovely table and we spoke throughout the evening on many things, comparing notes about our respective homes.

I look forward to hosting her at a dinner here at the Domus sometime! And maybe recommending her to Lady Sylvie for one at the Palazzo, whose table I recommend constantly.

Relationship Note on Samantha

It is not often one can say that they met someone for the first time while watching a man wrestle a bear. It is not often one can say that the second time which they met someone it was to discuss disease, health, and then proceed to engage in a friendly mock-battle with a Redrain Princess.

I should count myself lucky to be able to say both of these things in relation to my experience with Marquessa Samantha Deepwood.

From a noble family much like my own. If the rumors and gossip which I've overheard are any indicator, then we are far more similar in that our families have suffered misfortune. If any noble of the current era were to understand, then I feel that it would be a Deepwood.

She has made it quite clear through her words and hopes that she has the Compact, and the greater good, in her heart when it comes to the safety and well-being of the masses. She is, in effect, what I feel that every noble lord and lady should strive to be. Whether they take up the sword or not, duty to the call of war can not rule our existence. We must make peace in peaceful times.

Compare such an outlook to the tragedy which her name has suffered and it will be discovered what nobility looks like, persevering and surging forward no matter the unfortunate events. The very words of Lyonesse - Prevail Through Calamity.

Impassioned and dedicated to her causes, she needs a kindred spirit that is deserving of her.

Relationship Note on Samantha

One of my oldest friends, Samantha Deepwood. She's a Marquessa now, of course, but we grew up together - myself, Dawn, Michael Bisland, and Sam. After many years of not seeing each other, we've recently caught up and renewed our friendship. We've both changed but she's essentially the same in all the important ways - she is smart, witty, capable, and devoted to the protection and service of her people. I admire her greatly and am glad we have befriended one another a second time.

Relationship Note on Samantha

Samantha is a childhood friend of the Mercier. Our families' wealth closely interwined. In response to the Deepwood Massacre, the House of Mercier stands in support of the Vassal of Bisland, Deepwood and Marquessa Samantha Deepwood. They provide us with excellent wood material to work with. Every house in Mercier is made from Deepwood.

Relationship Note on Samantha

After my father died, Duke Gabriel Bisland became my guardian and Alaric's regent. I still remember how, while we were still heavy with grief, he brought us home and how Samantha was there to be a shoulder to cry on. She too had lost her family and that was a bond between us that I expect will last our entire lives. For all of the tragedies in her life, she has never lost her hope or optimism. Hers is vision that sees so far ahead, to a world better than the one we have now. I do worry sometimes that the harsh realities of the world as it is now, and the slow speed at which change is enacted, will wear on her. But thus far she has borne up well under both the weight of her position and visionary for a better future.

Marquessa, Deepwood vassal to Grayson. Beautiful, elegant woman who was very polite and inclusive of me in her conversation.

Relationship Note on Samantha

I ran into the Marquessa while taking a stroll with Delia Whisper through the menagerie. It is good to see such a level headed presence arrive in Arx. I look forward to expanding what has only been an acquaintanceship. The Marquessa has offered to help with my recent interest in charitable works.

Now, to find out if orphans are better suited to attend the Academy or if they need their own tutelage.

Relationship Note on Samantha

Samantha and I go some ways back. My mother was a servant under House Deepwood for most of her adult life, only leaving the Marquessa's service to start her own family, and she continued to correspond with her up until she was slain. Old Oak were always somber affairs thereafter, I imagine, but I enjoyed goofing off with her and I like to believe I gave her some fragments of a normal childhood.

She has since blossomed into a woman any parent could be proud of. I hope the harsher truths of the city do not make her cynical, but if there's anyone who can continue to hold their head high hardship after hardship, it's Lady Samantha Deepwood.

Relationship Note on Samantha

If I could choose one thing, just one, as proof that something good can come from tragedy, that we can find something worth saving among ashes, it would be Marquessa Samantha Deepwood. After we lost Alaric the Elder in the Tyde Rebellion, I came home to a regency and a long, brutal series of campaigns in the Gray Forest, all but exterminating the Reapers. Through those difficult years of blood, I received the single gift of watching a child grow into a gifted young woman, and perhaps no noble in the entire Peerage of Arvum is as aware of her responsibilities as the Marquessa of Old Oak. She is like a daughter to me, and I'm proud to have played a small role in seeing Samantha become the Conscience of the Peers.
