Relationship Note on Fortunato

I thought all the blushing and hand holding was keeping you warm enough, Tiny.

Right, Ailith?

You won't catch me singing the praises of cold weather. But I'll take it over the sticky, humid misery southern Arvum calls summer.

Relationship Note on Fortunato

It's incredibly easy! I simply look at anything, think 'will this be fun, make me money, or be useful enough to be worth the effort', and then I do the thing if the answer's yes. People make things too complicated.

Relationship Note on Fortunato

How does a Grayson befriend a Grayhope? Through a misunderstanding, a wrong assumption, and a presumed case of mistaken identity. Wonderful little story that I won't go into detail on. Not only am I rather happy to formally become his patron, I'm quite proud to support his future works. His skill at evoking emotion through his paintings cannot be denied - nor, in my mind, surpassed.

Relationship Note on Fortunato

I keep hearing people rave about Fort's artwork. Maybe I should go see this show.

Thena's name is being tossed around a lot too.

We should change our names from Grayhopes to Greathopes.

Still, it's pretty great that Fortunato's art is getting so much attention, but we already knew he was amazing. That's why I had his apprentices sneak out figurines on him to sell.

Relationship Note on Fortunato

He sees with an artist's eye, a rare talent that catches far more than most people would likely give him credit for. I found his exhibit moving in many ways, and strongly support his - and Archlector Aleksei's and Prince Mason's - cause. His skill with a brush is incredible, his attention to detail profound. I witnessed the effect it had on others first-hand, which is what great art does. Masterpieces on display indeed, but for all the attention to art given, I find myself more curious about the man who painted them, and the mind that envisioned them.

Relationship Note on Fortunato

The art show begins soon. I am quite nervous about how it will be received, but no matter the reactions, Master Fortunato has done incredible work. I never could have explained with words what he has captured on canvas. We could not have found anyone better for this project.

Relationship Note on Fortunato

Fort threw a great party to celebrate Mae and I getting married. It was a blast. I got outrageously drunk, everyone looked amazing, and I didn't get nearly enough time to say hello to all the guests. I don't think the Grayhope Manor has ever had so many crammed into a room...

Many thanks to Fortunato! It was a fantastic time.

If anyone has an extra copy of the song Princess Serafine translated, I'd love to have it.

Relationship Note on Fortunato

Originally, I was thinking about sending Master Fortunato a useless trinket for introducing a rather interesting conversation across the Journals yesterday evening - a raven paperweight. Now, for all the talk of food, I am going to send over a few fowl for the Murder's cook-pots.

Not carrion birds, no. No one should have to eat crow.

Master Fortunato Grayhope. The Perpetual Observer. Any further falls short and becomes woefully inadequate.

Relationship Note on Fortunato

Fortunato, a Lower Burroughs princeling if there ever was. In another life I was his patron; now, he asks if I am in need. Like a sodden stray cat, I need the warmth of company, and milk - for my tea.

He speaks about as straight as I do, which is to say not at all, though he's a thoughtful sort; a ruminator. He bears his demons on his sleeve, and I suspect he is haunted by far more than what he's yet shared. And so it's rather a delight sharing words with the man.

'Tis such a funny thing, too, when his mouth goes a bit more to one side than the other in a smile. Like it's about to fall straight off.

Relationship Note on Fortunato

It is always a thing, when you meet with true artists. There is something about their soul that sees the world at an angle just slightly apart from most. The thoughts that stir in his head spin with incredible depth and when he speaks, it is often of faith and requires an answer that challenges me deeply. He comes to his faith in a most interesting direction and I wait eagerly for his next questions. Perhaps I might even manage some of my own.

Relationship Note on Fortunato

Fortunato is not only the master of metaphors, he is absolutely, definitely, completely, ENTIRELY the master of pictures of kittens. If he's not careful he'll miss his calling as an artist of nothing but small fluffy things. I'm sure that picture will be remembered centuries from now. A thousand years from now!

Relationship Note on Fortunato

There's a shine about some people, a substance and a quality. I have only met Master Fortunato a couple of times, but I have come away from each meeting with a respect and an intrigue, and a sense of time well spent. I don't believe the artist has a wasted breath to be had.

Relationship Note on Fortunato

I realized I haven't written about Fort before. I thought he was just some weird poet, then I found out no, he's an artist, and that he's done such amazing things. He's Aureth's brother, and Hana's uncles, and I tease him about being metaphors stacked on metaphors. He's definitely weird, but he's such a good weird, and he's thoughtful in a way that always surprises me and catches me off guard. I don't think anyone else has made me think as many new thoughts as he has.

You know when you feel like you've just totally unexpectedly hit it off with someone new? Isn't that just the best feeling? I had the awesome opportunity to meet Fortunato in his family shop. Talk about talent! I've never seen so many beautiful paintings. And I'm incredibly proud to say one now hangs in my room. I am definitely looking forward to our conversations to come.

Relationship Note on Fortunato

Today I met with, for the first time, Fortunato Grayhope. We discussed a commission he has received, which, while informative and engaging, was not the sole virtue of the afternoon. He was absolutely nothing like I expected, which I confess I took to be a delight.

Having followed the work he sometimes puts forth within the white journals of Vellichor, I have long found myself an admirer. Thus, it was my great pleasure to host him and see first hand the early stages of one of his projects. In the future, I hope to speak more with him, though not only on the subject of business.

We are each more than our titles, are we not?
