Relationship Note on Cambria

Do the Gods accept the wagers of those with no right to make them?

If I were to go before Gloria and bet my sisters life on a duel and lose. Would she be enthralled? Would she be executed? I had no right to wager Khanne's life, but because we declared it before Gloria all reason must be lost?

Relationship Note on Cambria

History is for tomes and lectures, statues, especially in a place called 'The Hall of Heroes', are for honoring heroes of The Compact. Not traitors to The Compact who sought it's destruction. The Gyre should be remembered, but with scorn, not honor, and not with a statue in a sacred place.

That depends on how much you drink immediately afterwards. There's whole nights I don't remember.

Relationship Note on Cambria

A slightly belated followup (apologies as I am slightly under the weather, hence the day or two's delay on the Commoners' Bulletin, which I know by your own words you enjoy), and a question to which I'd like your answer:

Is trying to limit stupidity in its own way stupidity, do you think? Or is the person who observes stupidity and does nothing the greater fool? I feel like I spend my days offering solid advice which goes unheeded for a variety of reasons, and I've occasionally thought I was wasting my time on various matters. But when I am called to account at the end of my days, there will be none who can say I didn't act where warranted. Ever.

If I had it my way it would be similar to your way.

So indeed, this is why we don't always get our way.

Until the moment we do, which is always /wonderful/.

I rather enjoyed the essay you tucked into the whites a few days back, I actually read it through slowly. Would have been good with a cup of tea but the archives are so fastidious.

I think you should consider publishing a book. Something about...good listening, empathy, patience, generosity....and how those methods and traits serve Lycene so well.

The truths are what work, not the lies.

from: Desk of Lord Fredrik RedTyde
Subject: Not being 'that' person

That was a long read, but a good one, full of excellent advice. You really should take the Whisper Natalia's sage suggestion and turn these into pamphlets to be left in all the big social locations of Arx. Please, for the good of all.

Relationship Note on Cambria

Although I have not been in the acquaintance of the enchanting Marquessa of House Mazetti for very long, I still feel compelled to note that I hope our amicable association will carry on for some time far in the future. We are in accord on a great many matters more than those on which we differ, and isn't that the foundation for a fine friendship?

Relationship Note on Cambria

I knew a fellow once who would only read the very last couple of sentences of a missive. 'Venturo,' he would tell me, 'it's only at the end that people get to what they want from you.' Once, he skipped past a missive whose last lines were a plea for money from his sister, dismissing it as yet another attempt to grab what silver he'd been able to save over the years from what he led me to believe was a greedy member of his family. Later, he'd find out, it was an askance to help tend to their mother who had grown ill, and only when news of her death came to him did he understand the consequences of that choice. From that point forward? He read each and every word of the messages that came his way.

I wonder if our whites aren't the same way. Should someone only read a snapshot in time of what we document, what wrong assumptions might they jump to? Are we best off to keep such detailed notes that our whole life might be explained, for fear of being captured wrong for all of posterity? Or are we best off leaving that mystery, keeping to only the important parts and let the future read into it what they will.

Relationship Note on Cambria

I've never found that writing about those who you care for has ever let me down in producing smiles. So today, I think of my cherished Patron and the generosity she's shown since I arrived in this city. It feels like ages ago now, but I've always had at least someone I could call friend thanks to her.

To lights in the dark!

Relationship Note on Cambria

Marquessa Cambria Mazetti was a warrior today. You did so well, and you made it through. The pain is nothing when you get to hold them in your arms. Your son is beautiful and strong, just like his mother. And his father too.

It was an honor to be there with you, to welcome your son to this world.

Remember to drink the tea I left. I know it tastes foul, but it will help you heal.

Relationship Note on Cambria

Ah, what a lovely evening with the Marquessa and her Marquis. Not only was she direct in such a way that I have yet to see from a Lycene, but her understanding of the needs and desires for business over just base pleasures was both reassuring and enlightening. I do look forward to spending more time with the Mazetti family in the days to come, for there are many projects that we can pool our resources for, aiding and growing both houses from West to South.

Relationship Note on Cambria

One can still have a heart, even when choosing to disallow it the option of controlling your actions. What needs doing at the time, sometimes must be done.

While the opposite also holds true! You can not solely allow logic or reason to control you. Sometimes one must allow their heart to speak and be followed. Otherwise what's the point of living?

We have logic in order to keep our passionate side in check. We have passion in order to keep our logical side in check. Find the balance and prosper.
