As the Marquessa Lianne has stated as well, I owe a debt of gratitude towards the Princess Ophelia and Sellsword Amund. It was indeed a lucky series of events that favored me at the Carnival in Nilanza, a story that I will share with any whom wish to hear it. But the undeniable fact is the means luck favored me the most was in having the good fortune to not just have met and know these two fine individuals, but be blessed they are as skilled as they are in the bow and sword respectively.

My appreciation as well to the Lady Beatrice. The gift of that particular banner the Marquessa mentioned will make a fine showing in the Raconteur, the hole in it a testament to a story that borders on this side of fantastical.

Relationship Note on Amari

Normally I would tell some witty story about boasting and humility about your, 'winners stein for winners'... but after your stalwart and amazing showing, in not just one but three games? I'd say you deserve to be a bit of a show off with it if you want to be.

I had the benefit of attending the Marquessa's Lianne birthday party a few days prior, though I was content to mostly observe during the proceedings. It was a perfect affair, just the right touches in how it was put together to hold an opportune time just to enjoy the company of others. Between this and the present Lady Beatrice put together for her which was a most remarkable and touching undertaking, it is almost enough to drive me to figure out exactly when my birthday is, rather than quietly celebrating it each year whenever I see fit.

Relationship Note on Perronne

I've had a few opportunities to meet with Mistress Perronne over the past month or two. In each it's been a fascinating experience, one that has left me the wiser for it. While luck might not have been with her at the Kismet Carnival - next time, surely! - I have a feeling it will be with her in her future endeavors. Each time I come away with more thoughts of my own for how to apply and improve the efforts of the Raconteur. Any land would be fortunate to have one of her trading houses within it.

My sincere thanks to the participants, carnival goers and entertainers who took part in the official opening of the Kismet Carnival here in Arx. While the permanent building lacks some of the dreamy, colorful flair of the tents that roam the lands of Arvum, it demonstrated the mission of this particular endeavor well, I think. And for those who were unable to attend? Worry not, the Kismet Hall on the Raconteur Grounds is a permanent fixture now, the games open and available to all who want to come give their hand in a show of skill and luck.

Relationship Note on Lianne

A recent conversation with the Marquessa reminded me it's been just over two years since I started the Raconteur upon my arrival at Arx. Our debate continues between the merits of skill and luck, and how each has (or has not) played a roll in my turn of fortunes since I first set foot in this city. The key, I think, is an admittance that there is a balance to these things. I can think of no better way to celebrate my time here, and all that has been accomplished than the carnival that will be taking place tonight.

Relationship Note on Amari

I would recommend caution in allowing the Lady Amari to take you on a spin of 'wheelie horse' ... not only did I look ridiculous, the rebound of the lance nearly tore my arm from its shoulder!

I've just returned from visits of the new additions to the carnivals roaming Arvum. In times of uncertainty like this, we all need a bit of levity in life, and that goes especially so for those who serve as the support structure throughout the continent: the farmers, the miners, the traders and more.

With the help of all of those involved, it's no surprise to me how well it has done. My thanks go out to those houses who've been so supportive, and for potential new partners out there that are intrigued by what these activities can bring to your lands? Messengers are always welcomed.

Relationship Note on Selene

It's been a few weeks now since I first met the former Radiant, and she has certainly lived up to the expectations one might have upon a person with such a lofty and highly esteemed position. I'm also quite pleased she's agreed to be one of the story tellers at the upcoming Kismet Carnival, and I have no doubt that she'll leave her audiences enthralled and entertained.

As spring comes to a close, the last of the reserved offerings have been put up for sale in the Raconteur. We have both a lovely and unique cider, along with bottles of something a bit stronger that has a hidden kick to it.

Relationship Note on Ida

While I have yet to meet Dame Ida in person, she has been a pleasant joy as a recently formed penpal. Her reputation in her work is clearly well earned, and given the perfect blend of politeness and charm in her words, it is no wonder she's held up as an example of Oathlands honor, and find myself looking forward to being able to review her work first hand.

With the dust settled - and with the way Lady Fianna rode, it took quite some time for it all to settle with the speed she posessed - the first Raconteur Cup Races have concluded. I couldn't have asked for a better story than the one that unfolded, and it was not because of the location, or the concept, or myself. It was the riders and the throngs of people gathered to cheer them on, creating such a jubilant and raucous atmosphere it was simply perfect. I look forward to talking the Princess Berenice and the House Velenosa into sponsoring the second annual cup, but after the first? I don't believe that will be a difficult conversation at all. My thanks goes out to all of those who attended, rode, and sponsored.

Relationship Note on Sparte

It's an interesting conundrum, yes? And my thoughts might surprise those closest to me, that know I far prefer to live in the moment, and seldom give longer reaching outcomes their appropriate due. But intent, I would argue, is the most important thing, not the result. While I could contend that we learn from failure, it makes us grow, that there are many unpredictable things that influence the results... I believe the more compelling case is considering the opposite. If someone has ill and evil intent, but things don't go as intended for them, and it accidentally does good... would you celebrate this person? Would you hold them up and ignore what they were really trying to accomplish? Of course, the matter of the road, given the sheer size and number of people cannot, I think, be boiled down into such simple terms.

The atmosphere at the Raconteur last night was quite energetic and boastful after the work of several of the promoters for the races had their way with the crowds. Given I've heard conversations of all of our riders, it's clear each did their job to a T. So many toasts encouraged by men standing on tables, princesses and ladies on chairs, and the booming voices of a Duke and a fine servant of Malespero has left quite the mess for poor Zane to clean up this morning. Of course, there was some of the groups who were all snickering about how the black knight riding a monster was going to show up that noble lady... I'm rather not sure what that was all about!

Yet, the most remarkable thing of it all? The conversations were all quite jovial and friendly, to boot. The promoters did a grand job of focusing on their riders positives and not disparaging the others. In these times especially, such unity and friendly competition gives a sense of stability to those in Arx that we shall get through these trying times.

Relationship Note on Pasquale

I've only had the opportunity of a handful of encounters with the Lord Pasquale, and most have been due to business. And yet, from the moment we met, I could readily see why he's risen to Voice for the Marquessa Lianne. A steady head, an easy and amiable personality, yet to the point in matters. For any who might seek to strengthen ties with the growing trading port that Nilanza is becoming, I cannot help but recommend people seek him out.

In my travels, I've seen my fair share of down trodden times, and those who dwell in the taverns and bars to drown their sorrows. But this, the past day? Everything else pales in comparison. It even puts the melancholy of the green snow to shame.

While those who are far brighter than I see to this quite odd weather, there are still things that we all can do. The Raconteur will be providing extremely low cost drinks and discounts on casks to commoners. These have all been bottled and created before the current weather set in, and should provide a solid and safe source to refresh oneself with until the security of our other water sources can be verified. Equally, the breweries of the Raconteur across the land will be shipping in additional supplies, and I will happily donate to charities for those who need additional help.

For those so interested in demonstrating their ability to sway people to their point of view, the Raconteur Cup is still looking for promoters that are willing to champion our riders in the Raconteur Cup Races. If you've a knack for the social charms of life, and want a chance to show off? Do send inquiries to myself and Princess Berenice.

Additionally, if any are interested in having the breweries and carnivals of the Raconteur established in their lands, I am finalizing a round of investment as I write this. In the past, this partnership has created slews of jobs for various holds, along with wares built locally to their lands that the people are proud to have as their own. Send inquiries my way if it is something that catches your interest.

Relationship Note on Berenice

It's my pleasure to have the Princess Berenice co-hosting the First Annual Raconteur Cup Horse Races upon the beaches of Arx come this spring. It should be an exciting time, with a touch of the entertainment the Kismet Carnivals across Arvum will spread in the future. It is also a chance for riders to not only show off their skill and expertise, but to win a hefty purse at that, so thoughtfully sponsored by House Velenosa.

If there are any interested riders out there, or those who wish to demonstrate their social prowess as a promoter of one of the riders? Do send a messenger our way.

Relationship Note on Amari

Having had a chance to meet Barf in person while speaking with the Keatons, I can attest that he is endearing in his own way. I do believe that way may often involve holding onto ones leg with his quite massive teeth, however.
