Whatever his personal failings, Father was still an excellent martial teacher. One of his many lessons is very relevant to recent events: War is loss. Strategy is about making those losses matter.
While we Crimson Blades did not suffer any losses during the Battle of Pridehall, we did manage to keep the peace with minimal losses. Those that did suffer during the unrest and the fighting; I mourn with you, but I look forward to making those losses matter.

I figured that the Crimson Blades would be contracted by either the Iron Guard, or for Duke Gabriels force. What actually happened was... interesting, but at this point, it works.
With the Crimson Blades officially assigned as auxiliaries to the Iron Guard, the people of Arx will be seeing a lot of us in the coming days.
With the Boroughs situation, I'm fully expecting the Crimson Blades in the Arx Company to earn their pay keeping the peace. If you see them patrolling Traders Home or the outskirts of Arx, remember: each group of Crimson Blades within the city has an Iron Guard consultant, so they know what they're doing.
Those who meet our Companies patrolling the outskirts? They are there for your safety, and as early warning against any invasion force looking to lay siege to Arx. Please, treat them with respect.

This boy was to be groomed to be the heir to an impressive military tradition. He was fairly good at it, but the Overlord would never let him have time to himself.
Eventually, the boy took to slipping out of the family home for ways to have fun. Usually, he wouldn't get caught, but those times he did would mark the start of a a day long bout of 'education'.
The boys brother wanted to do scholarly things, so the boy at least did well with the Overlord since he actually was interested in the lessons.
Then, one day for various reasons, the boy had to leave, the brother staying behind.
Today, that boy hopes to reconnect with that brother, but time will tell how the Overlord reacts.

Elves.
These... whatevers.... are now on the lips of most of the Compact as a boogeyman come back to life. I haven't seen a gods damned thing to confirm this isn't anything but an elaborate ploy to deceive the Compact, and in all my traveling, I have never, *ever* seen evidence these things are real, let alone still alive.
So, why everyone is jumping to conclusions and believing a fairy tale at the first mentioning of them is beyond me... but at least the Regent and the strategy session earlier are moving in the right direction in preparing for a war.

It's been a while since I've worked so hard and didn't anything but get parried. He's a giant weapon in himself, and despite the bruises, I'm glad to have sparred with him. He's not instructor material, but he'll definitely be a change of pace for my men. I'm looking forward to observing.

Anyone with a brain would know I didn't just disappear into thin air during the last five years. Suffice to say I've met men like Alrec before, and I can safely say that I'm on the fence about this one. Sure, he's offering services I find valuable, but it's the arrogance underneath that which worries me. Hopefully he realizes his limitations with time and exposure to actual ground mercenaries. Leading a naval fleet is not even close to the same as leading a Battalion of disciplined mercenaries for land based warfare and escorts.

Well, that went better than I expected. Not even a small lecture on noble responsibility. Instead, he refers me to a weaponsmith for my men and just wants to check that I'm not an imposter. A reasonable suspicion, given my disappearance. He did prod me to try and make amends with father though. I'm still not sure if I even want to bark up that tree, let alone go near it.
