Relationship Note on Giada

I appreciate sincerely your willingness to work with me as I work through my grief and anger. I have always been quite passionate about everything, and I have a somewhat unwise tendency to run boldly towards trouble. I love deeply and without reservation, and I hold on to hope with both hands. I am truly an emotional creature.

Your patience and spiritual guidance and prayers as I try to make sense of my emotional state are greatly appreciated. You may not have great tolerance for privileged people using their privilege to be asses, but you do very well at seeing humans as human.

I had a brilliant idea, and it was so brilliant that I managed to talk a friend into agreeing that it was exactly that brilliant, and so together we shall conspire to enact it. It shall take a little time, a little energy, but in the end, I am quite confident that it shall be quite the success.

I just have to be patient enough to let it come to fruition, and I'm usually not all that good at patience. Stupid waiting.

Sometimes you trust and you see.

Sometimes you have to decide that you're going to let someone see you in a vulnerable place and trust that they don't take advantage of you.

Sometimes the rewards of this are so great that you don't even know how to express your gratitude.

It's wonderful. It's beautiful and fulfilling.

It is always nice to spend time with Duchess Khanne and Lord Mirk. The Halfshavs are such lovely people.

<This is the musical notation and lyrics for an old Orthodox hymn to the gods about building a new shrine in a settlement. It starts as a plea for inspiration, with a reminder that Hope never dies and Love is timeless.

Hope in dark times, a reminder that things will always change, thanks to the hand of Lagoma. Strength to create, to build and rebuild, to innovate and excel, thanks to the guidance of Jayus. The wisdom and understanding of the technology of architecture, thanks to the knowledge of Vellichor.

Thanks be to Petrichor for the land to build upon and the lumber and stones to build with. Praise to Mangata for good weather for building, for fresh air and cool breezes and clean water for laborers to drink. Glory to Gloria for the honor and prestige of creating something holy, and glory to Gild for the ability to further civilization with this structure. Thanks be to Limerance for the faith and devotion of the people to the Pantheon, and a promise to the Sentinel of order amidst chaos.

But it is an old hymn, and there is no mention of the Triad of the Lost. Still, it is something that many have heard sung throughout their childhoods, growing up in the Faith of the Pantheon. Nonetheless, though it may be committed to memory, few are likely to have seen it written out, particularly with the musical notation.>

I think I figured out a Thing. I'm very excited about this. I hope that I am correct, but enough things point in that direction that I have a path to take.

Relationship Note on Ida

If one is going to ask for a sword design (and then a sword creation, though that part isn't quite finished yet), then Dame Ida Ferron is the person to speak to. Her work is unparalleled and I am looking forward to seeing the masterpiece that she creates from the drawing that she has offered to me. It's quite exciting.

I have decided that it is perhaps time for me to revive my Metallic cycle into a new series of concerts for those who missed attending the first time, and so that I may also be able to answer more and better questions about what we know about these heroes of the past.

Perhaps, in addition, I will add an evening for discussion of those Metallics who worked with the most heroic of them but did not end up meriting their own song. We know of several additional names that aided the most notable heroes, and it may be interesting to speak on them.

With the right motivation, I could perhaps sponsor other such presentations on folklore and old songs. The Bard's College Performance Hall is an ideal place for such things, in my opinion.

Relationship Note on Aleksei

It's not that often that I end up with assassins on stage during a performance, but when I do, I stay in character and let Aleksei Morgan take them out for me.

I love jousting. There's just something about riding a horse full tilt at a friend in an effort to knock him sprawling off his horse without getting knocked sprawling off one's own horse that's glorious. It was a close match between Lord Alecstazi and me, but it was glorious, and no one knew how it might end until the very last.

It delights me to make a good show of things.

I really wish there were a way to keep His Grace from talking shit to bushes.

At least the bush could have been polite enough to be intimidated!

But no. No. It damaged his armor and I had to drag his bleeding but conscious person to safety. Thank the gods for conscientious medics.

Relationship Note on Mikani

No duel will change the fact that this woman is from common stock and really has no business being a member of the nobility. She has done nothing worthy of recognition and is widely regarded as a weirdo.

It is important that the true nobility of Arvum recognize the insult that the neo-nobility is.

Relationship Note on Rysen

Lord Rysen,

Your wife is the definition of a social climber. She is barely a member of the peerage, being an up-jumped commoner due to her neo-noble status. She married from a small barony to a duchy, and no matter how many children she has nor how useful she may be to the house, the facts will not change.

Furthermore, implying that a prince who has married into a duchy is a social climber is patently absurd. It is literally the opposite.

I have considered you a friend for a long time, so perhaps I should help you understand what Champions are for: they do not decide facts but opinions, generally speaking. One does not call for Champions regarding someone being wrong about a fact. One does it to address whether that person was rude about that fact or not. Also, once Champions have been called, it is absolutely gauche to then badmouth the other party in public, which includes writing white journals. The Champions handle the conflict for you.

Let it go.

Well, Lady Brianna and Lord Alecstazi's wedding was one of the most exciting I've been to. Also, one of the most crowded. It was quite the party, celebratory and happy, with many of the peerage attending. And then we picked teams for the snowball fight.

High Lord Victus was one of the team captains, and I was an early pick for his team, which delighted me. I am pretty good at snowball fights. And we had won -- but then His Grace accidentally threw his sword at the other team, seriously injuring Lord Arik.

But other than that, all in all, a very memorable wedding!

It seems like a popular day to write white journals. The archives are quite full of people eagerly recording their lives and times.

As to me, it's been a week of strange but hopeful dreams. I am eager to see what comes of all the things that we have been slowly working on over time.

What an exciting time to be alive!

The Eclipse makes me want to write music. I started a bit of it last night, at the ball, but I didn't really go anywhere with it yet. I don't know if it's any good, and probably it needs to be edited and expanded upon.

On this fateful night, soft shadows undulate, obliterate the light...
And under crimson moon, dancing brilliant, silent whispers all too soon...
Dare to dream this eve, oh take that chance, once the mysteries weave...

Every time I step into the Telmar Gauntlet, I am reminded of how hard I worked on sword forms as a child. And no matter how many times I practice the Gauntlet, it seems that I will never get up that rope in a timely fashion. I'm always too exhausted by the challenges that come before.

I probably shouldn't sing when I practice, but it makes me happier, and no one's ever managed to keep me from singing when I worked out anyway.
