Relationship Note on Lark

The High Lady of my House -- my own cousin, Lark Grayson -- is an admirable woman whom I had the pleasure of talking to last night after some time set apart by duties. I fear I did miss her and look forward to seeing her more now that we've agreed to it.

Relationship Note on Tessa

My assistant usually hands me out a list of white journals which he believes are to be of my interest and amongst them every member of my family is included, however simple the comment they make might be. Hence why when my cousin-in-law, Her Highness, Tikva Grayson, mentioned some daring person I decided to ask (just for fun, as the younger ones would say) who this individual might be.

So I was faced with the White Journal of Lady Tessa Moore.

So now I have another white journal I read in the mornings.

Today marks another one of those days where I am woken up by a slight headache. It is not as pungent as it was the previous incident and during the previous incident it happened at night instead of very early in the morning as it is happening right now.

I fear nobody can claim to haven't ever done mistake -- I the least of them -- thus, I accept your apology. Forgiveness paves new ways, opens old locks.

Relationship Note on Laric

It was nice speaking to you after so long, dear cousin. Sometimes it is hard to miss even the people who live in your own home. It is refreshing to see in them the same values you've always seen in them for years. My good, old cousin.

Relationship Note on Tikva

You prove me wrong yet again, dear cousin of mine. I suppose I should have expected, ever so creative and sweet. Your song makes yields me with a pride I feel I shouldn't feel yet, at least not until all the enemies which threaten our house, our realm, and our Compact are all taught that there is no one greater than Grayson.

Ever since my servant's reveille for me to wake up, I knew that today was going to be a laborious day at work for my House and the Crown. So toilsome was it that my bedtime bath was caressed by a deep, piercing headache. I am not a man who frequents pains on the head so you can imagine my surprise after the fact. You might already be casting an eye way from my white journal. The fellow lord or lady might decide never to do diplomacy with me. The bard might never write a song about me. 'Is this what the First Observer documents of his life?' To those I encourage patience, for my story comes not in vain.

While I was suffering my aches in bath-- one of the very few moments of my day from sunrise to sundown where I can enjoy the company of myself and the burdens of no work-- I happened upon the realization that I was enjoying my days. How could that be, judging by the fact that these days were bringing me pain? Just like you, dear reader, I am foreign to the motives behind my happiness except for the thrilling sensation of duty. Duty is what moves us and in duty I found a new purpose to my life.

It is time I disclose that the time I took off was for reflection, about myself, about my life, about my future and the future of the Crown. I wrote before about this, but now I write about it with more clarity. The future is what drives me forward every day. It is what makes someone die, suffer pain, for their Kingdom, for their Liege, for their Family, without being unhappy.

Like the warrior who would die in a battle for their King, I would suffer all the headaches I can suffer for the Crown. Blessed be every headache I get because of my work. Now I must repeat that while I try to concile some sleep. This blessed headache doesn't let me sleep either.

Relationship Note on Aiden

I feel in my compendious attempts to fill in records of my friendships and interactions in the Realm, as the First Observer of the Crown, it is necessary for me to devote a few lines to my cousin, His Highness, the Prince Aiden Grayson.

In his eyes, I see the desire to become someone. Not the usual dream of the child to be the hero of a war, or an expert on theological matters, or a skilled politician at court, or the best ruler for a landed title. No, my cousin has more ambitious desire. My cousin wants the best for his House. In many ways, he reminds me of myself when I was reaching maturity. Like him, I am an ambitious man. It must be unorthodox to confess my most secret goals, but it is true. I wake up for my House, work for my House, breath for my House, and Gods know I would die for my House.

It is why when I saw he needed my help, I was ready to take him under my arm and make him my friend. Now, he is slowly becoming a part of the Crown Observers. It has been a long time since I have felt excitement.

Relationship Note on Regla

I began my sessions with Lady Regla Navegant on how to use a weapon, in this case the shortsword, and how to perform a basic attack with one hand while appropriately taking advantage of footwork and stance. Passes, pivots and the likes were mentioned as necessities, as well as placing the weight of my body on my feet.

I must be forthright. It is, after all, the whole point of these white journals. I come into my sermons with the Sword of Escuma with my expectations below ground level. I would not be disappointed if after months of weekly lessons I come out of it being an absolutely abhorrent swordsman, a true spectacle of mock in the arts of fencing, the effigy of unswordsmanly attributes, the pinnacle of malfuction in all matters of fighting.

Though I admit I like to be surprised, and the Lady Navegant may yet surprise me again, teaching me at least the basics of how to defend myself in case I find the undesired fate of having to fight for my life. For that, I am grateful to her kind lessons which come with no requirement but my friendship.

Today, I was the spectator of a historical event in the form of the wedding of our King Alaric and our Queen Symonesse. It can sometimes be reassuring to see major events go without trouble -- so unflawed from its original concept that one can dare-call it perfect. I am happy and pleased with the efforts put into making this union materialize -- and I am humbled by the generous words our lieges said as to my service to the Crown. Your Majesties, the pleasure of service has been mine. I also salute and echo the royal speech, that this is the start of a new era.

Today, I also made a new decision in my life and it has given me a sense of renewal which I hadn't felt in some time. I feel dilligent in not letting myself drowse again into letting this happen in the future -- this whole matter which has brought many of us so much pain. But now my pain is hidden and replaced for hope. I feel aligned with the speech of the King. It is the start of a new era, both for the Compact and for Myself.

Long Live the King. Long Live the Queen.
Long Live the Crown.

A RENEWED COVENANT BETWEEN THE COMPACT OF ARVUM AND THE TWILIGHT COURT

In recognition of five hundred years of peace between the Twilight Court and the Compact of Arvum, established by the original treaty signed by Queen Alarice the Great and King Calithex of the Twilight Court, it is the hope of the Compact and the Twilight to renew and strengthen those bonds and establish a new era of peace. The terms agreed upon by the Compact and the Twilight Court are as follows:

1. In the event of grave threat, aid may be provided to the Compact, as supplied by the Nox'alfar. King Calithex's own personal blade shall, as a symbol of this covenant, remain in the possession of King Alaric Grayson IV.

2. The Night Grove shall remain the sole possession of the Twilight Court, and no human may trespass save those given leave by the Nox'Alfar. The payment of the Teind cannot be in any way infringed.

3. The Keepers of the Teind shall be recognized as servants of the Twilight Court. These human vassals of the Nox'alfar remain sworn only to the Twilight Court, and will never be forced to bend the knee to the Compact, nor shall the Compact wage war upon them, and their independence in the Gray Forest shall be guaranteed.

4. The Nox'alfar shall use the full extent of their knowledge and abilities to draw King Alaric IV from the persistent illness caused by the Exsilium Noctis.

5. The Crown of the Compact and the Twilight Court shall be made closer by blood. Lady Symonesse Marin'luna of the Twilight Court shall wed King Alaric Grayson IV, becoming Queen Symonesse Grayson in accordance with Arvum's customs. Once per generation, a Peer of the Compact shall marry a Nox'alfar of noble house of the Twilight Court to renew these bonds.

6. Both parties agree to mutual defense upon the gravest of threats. If the Teind is ever broken, and the Silence seeks to return to the world and strike at Our Lady of Twilight's Children, then the Compact shall send its most puissant knights not trained in the arts to fight against the Bringers of Silence. Likewise, if Legion shall return to the world, or any of the other Archfiends, and another Reckoning is imminent, the Twilight Court shall come to the aid of the Compact if such a request is made.

7. As communication is the best way to ensure lasting bonds do not wither, the Compact offers the Twilight Court a place within the Crown Ward of Arx on which to construct an enclave to house a permanent Nox'alfar diplomatic presence. This embassy is given over with the intent that the Nox'alfar may treat the space within the walls as their own, free from the laws and prohibitions of the Compact.

Signed, Duke Gabriel Bisland, Crown Regent of His Majesty King Alaric the Fourth, Sovereign of the Compact of Arx

Signed, Prince Tyrval Ael'Noctis, Crown Prince of the Twilight Court, Scion of the Nox'alfar, Second Best Blood Mage, Possessor of Exactly Half of Calithex's Titles Depending Upon How They Are Recited

I have been out of the city for some time. My duties have taken me across Arvum to treat with several of the Abandoned tribes, and I now return with a number that includes one thousand fighters to add to our ranks. We barely made it back to the city before the siege began, in fact. Like many other important alliances, it came with a marriage to seal it. So I've returned not only with reinforcements, but a wife.

One of these things, I admit, was more expected than the other.
