As is becoming something of a trend with Lady Monique's parties, the only disappointment I had with the Spring Soiree was that it didn't last a little longer, like for another week.

I'm torn between making sure Washburn and Ian are invited to my next birthday party to see what kind of presents they bring and on the other hand making sure they're not invited in order to save them from the Lord Commander's wrath due to the kind of presents they bring.

Oh, and it would be a terrible oversight indeed not to mention Lady Lucita's rebec playing as part of the artistic week gone by. It was very melodic, and quite interesting to hear!

Something of an artistic themed week gone by; an interesting art auction, another offer of instruction, even some very nice compliments about some of my offhanded doodles.

Wishing all the best to my cousin Duke Cristoph and the new Duchess Nicia. I was only able to stop by the reception very briefly, but it was more than sufficient time to note it was quite the lovely affair, as expected of an event in the care of the Whisper House.
While my mother is no longer with us, I am always just as glad to see House Laurent's successes and to be able to share in their triumphs as much as she would have.

It's no great secret that I used to rather detest holding meetings earlier in my reign. They were often noisy, inconclusive affairs, helped little by my lack of skill in leading them.
However, not only have I begun presiding over productive meetings lately, but more than a few people have been very complimentary about my oversight afterwards. Some have even said they're smoother than they've ever been now.
I can't deny taking a fair bit of pride in that.

I've recently had the pleasure of visiting the section of the Gray Forest the Lodge of Petrichor was given. I went to see how the construction of their outpost has progressed, and it is very close to completion indeed. I have to admit, what I saw was quite unexpected! I have every confidence the Lodge will be a valued contributor to the safety of the Compact in the years to come.

Royal duties have kept me from the journals but I would be remiss if I did not recognize Princess Alarissa and Lady Monique for their most excellent event they held at the Valardin Estate recently, the Night of White. It was a gathering not to be forgotten for some time and I enjoyed myself thoroughly!

My deepest thanks and gratitude go out to all the people (and spiders) of Arvum who attended the royal wedding of Queen Symonesse and I, but even moreso to those worked so hard behind the scenes to prepare every banner, every bouquet, every decoration and refreshment that made our day so very special and one that will last long in the annals of our great Compact. Your names may not be known to anyone beyond your family and friends, but your King has seen the incredible results of your tireless effort and knows that such fantastic splendor does not simply appear out of nothing.

High Inquisitor Alistair held a public forum today at the Inquest. It went well, the public gained more understanding from it, and I commend the the High Inquisitor and all of the Inquisition for their initiative to build public confidence in one of the Crown's most important organizations.
I also learned about 'collectible figurines' at this event. I'm still not quite sure what to make of them, but I do have my own collection of one now.

Three years on and I return to a Compact that has seen tumultuous times and significant events since my affliction. Like my realm, I have both lost things that can never be recovered, and been strengthened and hardened by the trials I have endured and survived.
At times it feels like I've been away forever, and at others hardly at all. It's curious how the sometimes the minor changes can feel bigger than the major changes. I remember holding court in an Alarice Plaza full of people, active and vibrant. It's gone back to being a park, stately and reflective. Nothing about the park itself has changed, yet it's still so different.
The Compact never gave up on healing the harm done to me, fighting for me, bringing me back. I will not give up on healing the harm done to the Compact, fighting for it, and leading it forward.
Our eyes have been opened to the great challenges ahead; we will not falter. I have much work to do.
