Is the rum for you, or for Ivy? I've had a number of healers tell me rubbing liquor on the gums of a teething child soothes them. Personally I've found that slicing the ginger and rubbing it along the gums works very well and the crying usually stops quickly. Spring onions also work to deaden the pain, but I warn you that the breath of your child after might fell an ox.

I feel like I should write something in the journals for archival and historical purposes about my lord husband. I find myself at a loss for words, however. He is so much more than I first expected. I have known him only a short time but it feels like longer. It feels as if I have always come home to find him at his desk writing some missive, balancing some ledger, tending to his business. Perhaps another time I will have more words to write other than:

I came home to find my betrothed face down in a pile of missives on his desk, ink spilled into his hair. As I helped wash the ink out I pondered how he came to Arx not covered in ink... He works non-stop, it seems, when I around to interrupt his daily routines..
