I'm very much looking forward to visiting Eswyndol for your poetry event. I've only been hosting because I've missed Princess Helena's readings so terribly. It thrills me to have another taking up the mantle, even if only for a night. I look forward both to your own verse and to what others bring. The creativity in the capital this season has been astounding.

Relationship Note on Medeia
Some months ago, Lady Medeia Eswynd asked me one question which, when explored and acted upon, proved demonstrably invaluable to the well-being of the Compact. I am proud beyond measure to have been able to coordinate those efforts, to keep the company of such brave and brilliant individuals, to know the work spread beyond the edges of my familiarity.
Thank you, my friends, for that conversation in the solarium with which we built something new and necessary.
Thank you, each of you who made your sacrifices and spoke your words. All those broken windows and bitter memories did what they needed to do.
And thank you, Lady Medeia, for asking your question and trusting me to find an answer.
While I know the losses were grievous, I know too that we would have lost significantly more still if she'd kept that question to herself.

Relationship Note on Medeia
I will admit that I am not a trained midwife. Despite my vast knowledge in the art of healing and creating balms, midwifery was never something I sought to extend my knowledge upon and so when I was approached with Lady Medeia's project to open a midwife training center, I confess I was uncertain of the need but supported the idea for the sake of innovation. It wasn't until one late night when I was called to deliver a baby that I understood why many more needs to be educated on the matter, mothers and midwifes, or random physicians called to help in the dead of night.
The midwife training center is meant to be an annex of the Saving Grace hospital including informational center for the public and a classroom for the Physicians, Mercies, and Harlequins, who are joint by the effort of bringing it to be. The task is clear: sharing and teaching the best practices so the midwives feel equipped to do their tasks well. There will also be a dedicated room for birthing, for those able to reach the hospital on time and a carriage service for expecting mothers.
I believe the center will be of great assest to improve both service offered by midwifes and the knowledge for new and experienced mothers both. Those interested in raising a donation or assisting with the project, are encouraged to contact Lady Medeia Eswynd.
I send will wishes to all expectant mothers and merry births.

It was a grand opportunity to sit down and hold a long discussion with Lady Medeia. She's certainly grown into grand company! She can carry on a conversation and keep both parties interested with effortless ease. I look forward to the next opportunity for she and I to sit down and chat about whatever we please.

I got distracted from the original direction that this experiment was supposed to go in.

I have this delivery that I need to make, then I can go find it.
Learned that more vents will be needed. Though without the vents and some hardened fins. It flies. Don't have any control on it. Though that shouldn't matter just yet!

I finally did it! I crossed over to the dark side. In theory any way.
I distilled a whiskey. Yes scholar, someone from the Isles can make something other than Vodka or Rum. Yes, I know I'm known for my rums. Yes, I'm just as surprised as the rest of us.
It is a black whiskey. Made from aged blackwood casks. Everything about it screams "I am a Crovane Whiskey!" I should have a party to celebrate it. We need more parties in our lives.
Yes scholar, you can come. Everyone will be invited.

The Lady Medeia has offered to be my mentor with the Physicians. I have seen her at work and know her to be skilled. I am confident that with her guidance, I will become someone who can save lives.

Ah, Lady Medeia does the Marquis and I such a kindness, scholar.
Though, we are such exemplars of Lycene charm by the providence of the company we keep, the beauty untold in our midst, and the honor it is to be of the Lyceum.
Suffice to say, trust that Marquis Tessere and I shall be champions of this charm if there continues to be a haunt where we may do so!
I can never get enough of a Lady Eswynd-approved soiree.

How far things have come in such a short time, From strangers
talking in a garden to friends taking in a game of chance and
now here we are partners in a brewery.
While the dead gull has had her troubles and they are plenty
there is one thing it did not have..
It didn't have us. And if there is one thing that I have learned
in the short time we have known one another it is that
together we can accomplish much.
But fuck, we need a new name for the place. Dead Gull...
It just won't do.

It is rare to meet someone who has not only a compelling story to tell, but one that intersects, even if tangentially, to your own. I had the enjoyment to hear a small sliver of the Lady Medeia's this past afternoon while we worked on a collaborative brew. Just like the best drinks put into casks, I feel that this friendship will only get better over time.

As Lady Tatyana and I prepared to sail for the Saffron Chain, we happened to meet Lord Vicarin Saik, a pleasant nobleman who spoke of a wedding between his kinswoman and a lord of Eswynd Rock. Some days afterward, my cousin Ciro spoke with enthusiasm about a Lady Medeia who had agreed to join us in a voyage to the Chain. I will admit I was surprised, but my cousin is as skilled in making friends as I am in making enemies. I asked him if he'd fully briefed her on the dangers of the Isle of Markets, and he said he had.
Returning to the Seraceni Manor one morning, still quite drunk, but having threatened some scholars the previous night into a daring raid of the Stacks (judge me not, Archscholar Sina, should you read this: it was for the greater good, I swear it) and having found something useful to add to the Prince Sebastian's research, I encountered some well dressed courtiers on their way to my neighbor's estate, that of Baroness Calla Vaevici. These courtiers spoke glowingly of a Lady Medeia Eswynd who'd recently married. Envy, perhaps, or cynicism, caused my eyes to roll, as I stumbled into my own manor to make some final preparations.
Having met Lady Medeia, I would say that the compliments paid her are wanting. Few live up to their reputation, and those who exceed it are rarer still.
