If anyone complains to you that you should not write about Thralldom because it equates it with slavery, just tell them that you are writing about the practice of forcing others and their family against their will into a status that requires compulsory labor and a restriction of all rights like the freedom of movement?

This feels like a subtle scolding of everyone for their bickering over the whites. If it is, then I love it. If the future generations are to learn from the past, then gods help them if they are forced to use our white journals as historical records. And gods help the scholars who have to shift through thousands of pages of utter bullshit to find the one kernel of knowledge contained within.

I look away from The Whites for a day and when I come back everyone is bickering again. Tessa (no clue who that is) even wrote #iwontstartwars. What does that even mean? Can anyone explain this to me?

In the event of my death in the coming battle, I request that if my body if recovered be burned in a pyre on the beach. If my body can not be recovered then burn an effigy of me. But not just burned, mind you. I want my funeral to be a party. Drinking, music, food, if you can find two people to duel each other even better. All my possessions are too go to Cadenza to do with as she sees fit.

I haven't been spending A LOT mind you. Compared to the wealth I have. It's not so much I spend a lot but more Diamondplate is REALLY, REALLY DAMN EXPENSIVE. Besides, anything spent on Princess Cadenza is well spent in my opinion.

It's been a while since I've written a proper journal entry, I've been busy lately, so here we go!
I've had a few fights lately. Against Prince Luca, against Orathy, one an honor duel and another just for entertainment. Both were rather fun and I won both. Did I write about the battle with Prince Luca? I can't even remember. I have to get a gift for Orathy for cutting him upon the rear.
I got Princess Cadenza a rubicund cutlass, she loves it, and has been praticing with it whenever she gets the chance. I'm glad she loves her gift! Got her some other gifts as well, but now I've been blowing a lot of money, money I was hoping to get a diamondplate dagger with. Opps! Guess I gotta start saving up again.
The war is coming up. I know what I'll be doing. I hope it is useful. I hope I don't die. I hope Cadenza doesn't die ether. Maybe selfish of me, with plenty of people going to die, but I had my freedom taken from me for 9 years, so I can a little selfish, right?

I can't keep up with the drama in white journals. I always have to hunt through them to find whatever started the drama, and ain't nobody got time for that!
In other news, I won my first duel as an official Champion! I represented Magpie Grayhope against Prince Luca Grayson, who represented Archlector Aleksei, in a duel to determine who was Archlector Aureth's best friend. It was a good fight. We started bantering each other about going out to dinner after the 'dancing', and after I made a joke about not putting out on the first night, he said he doesn't go out with those who can't hit him. And right after that I gave him a nice cut right across the chest! It was deeper then I meant it to be, but he was alright. Though having to fight bare chested and oiled up was not pleasent. At least the fairer sex seemed to enjoy it.
I have to fight Luca again in a duel that is much more serious this time, for Princess Cadenza against Prince Luca again, who fights for Princess Tikva Grayson. I suspect Prince Luca will fight even harder in this fight,repersenting his sister-in-law (or cousin-in-law? I don't even know, the nobility is so intermarried at this point everyone is someone's cousin) in a fight with pride on the line.
I prepare my body and mind for this.

Everyone is weighing in on the killing of Esra by Lord Costas, so I might as well.
At the end of the day, you can defend Lord Costas by saying he committed and act of self defense, but the fact is he tried to apprehend Esra in the first place and Esra resisted. And even if Esra was resisting with lethal force, Costas could have urged Esra to flee. Lord Costas made a mistake. Now of course a mistake in the heat of the moment, one that I might have made myself if I was in his shoes, but still a mistake. Esra's crimes were no so grave that he needed to be apprehended the first chance anyone got.
Then we have the mistake of the charges brought against Esra. Excommunication was good enough, the other charges were clearly overkill.
Though the original mistake is that Esra made public statements in the first place. Even if what he said was 100% true, and I don't believe it was, this was never going to change anything. No one is gonna believe the word of one random noble over a highly regarded institution such as The Faith. What would have been a better way to go about it? I don't know. But this was a huge lack of foresight and egos getting in the way on all sides.
