For those of you patting yourselves on the backs for being great heros during the siege for a single spectacular act of valor?
Every damn person that showed up on the walls and ramparts that day was a hero. Every single one. From the soldier who'd only been on the job a month to the guy resupplying arrows to the archers who thought he was going to get an arrow in him himself.

I was unsure the day that I introduced myself to Orazio exactly what would happen. It's been my experience not to trust most people to make decisions that I would consider 'right'. But I find myself developing an increasing level of respect for the Legate. He's a steadfast man and one that I'm coming to trust deeply.

I've always done some sketch work, in a pad that I kept tucked away from the sight of prying eyes. I liked that more than writing in journals, even this one. Sorry, Vellichor. It wasn't until we opened up the shop that I decided to bother trying to sell any of it. I've been pleasantly surprised to see that people actually want to buy the crap that I'm able to produce. Even if I'm mildly concerned with this city's obsession with animals. If there's a market for painting kittens and puppies and other adorable things, then I'm fine with making some extra cash that way. I'm sure Gild doesn't mind.
I also find that working art can be relaxing and quite contrary to other aspects of my life. That said I've spent an undue amount of time tonight painting detailed images of spiders at a wedding and I think it's ruined me for sleep tonight. I'm going to scrub my eyes and return home.

Thena Grayhope is a terrible guard. Just absolutely one of the worst ones that I've ever had to train. She's lucky I didn't toss her over the walls during the siege or leave her in the tunnels with the rats.
That aside, she has my unwavering loyalty and support. I am convinced that she will flourish in her new role under Grandmaster Armel's tutelage. And if she thinks for one second that she'll see less of me after leaving the guard, she is sorely mistaken. I'm like one of those rashes that you just can't get to go away.
