Relationship Note on Alaric
I defeated his early attacks, rebuffed his attempts to end my advance via diplomatic efforts and marriage and crushed his last ditch efforts mercilessly, taking the City of Arx and capturing the King.
Despite all this my opponent was gracious in defeat. Hopefully he'll improve.

The recent naval training exercises I ran were successful. More so than I had actually planned as I had expected more friction between the navies.
However it was not to be. Lady Beatrice and my brother Martino did a commendable job at keeping communications going well between the navies.
The work of the various fleets was outstanding and I wish to publicly thank everyone who made this possible. Malvici, Malespero, Rubino, Pravus, Volkov, Gilden, Thraxian, Bisland, Saik as well as the Oathlands fleet and everyone else who supported it.
At a time when the Compact needs to be united like never before it is truly good to know that it *is* possible if the successes of the exercises are any indication.
I would be proud and confident fighting alongside and leading those fleets against any who might threaten the Compact.

I find myself at an interesting time in my life. I have reached a point in my skills and knowledge where I am very very good at the things that I need to do in my role and duties. Namely fighting and leading naval forces to war. Where do I go from here? What should I try to learn to improve myself further? How will I benefit myself, Malvici and the Compact best?

I would never truly recommend the flail as a weapon. Too imprecise. Too unforgiving of mistakes due to it's difficulty to control. The advantage gained in being difficult to parry or blow with a shield is countered by the fact that it is not a weapon suitable for fighting alongside allies in ranks. For these reason I will always recommend sword or spear over the flail.

Seriously I thank you Cousin for always being there to help field questions of a military nature. I'm not the greatest or most personable of people and you are able to explain warfare to others in a way that is far easier to understand. You do what I cannot with such ease. I admire that for you... despite the fact you do it lounging around with a mug in your hand.

I never suggested Thrax would do such a thing to the Compact. If the Compact decides to follow Brass then I only believe it fair for the other fealties to help shoulder the economic impact of Thrax losing thralldom.

People may debate the options available to us and there are merits to all of them but the cost may be too high.
In short. I believe we can following the suggestion of Ashe and stand strong together as a Compact. The only way that accepted Brass's offer and have the Thraxian's agree would be with the help of the rest of the Compact to help them weather the economic upheaval.

It appears unseemly to have hired swords deal with the conspiracy amongst the Scholars. Surely the Inquisition could have called upon their own troops or those of the Crown even? It just feels... messy.

The Road has brought increased trade and yet increased danger, similar to that of the Empyrean Trade Route. However the Route doesn't cut through areas that are the homes of others not in the Compact. I suppose it's easier to also lay in ambush of a trade caravan than a trade ship, but then again the sea itself can wash away a ship like it is nothing.
