Relationship Note on Alis
My sister Ali's is the Champion of the West. Who I look to to hold up the example of what a Dragon of the Oathlands should aspire to be. And so while Sir Roland is on a long journey, a quest that he knows in his heart he must complete. The Sword of Sanctum he remains but until he returns I have asked Princess Ali's to carry Oathbinder.
My sister is more than just an exemplar of knightly ideal, she is also a brilliant general. And a skilled general needs not one superb warhorse as Sir Draco is, but they need several so a fresh one is always ready.
And so I have given the reigns of Sir Arugula over to they Champion of the West. May he and Draco both carry you to victory in the battles to come.

Relationship Note on Katarina
At a time when we look the the horizons and can only think about how what looms beyond them looms so large and forboding over us... it was perhaps exactly what I needed to be able to have a party and celebrate a special day with family.

As is my ritual, after attending to prays at the temples I stopped by the archives to read journal entries before they can be filed away. I came upon a curious one from Princess Cara Grayson talking about how treatments for head trauma that makes you an idiot and to make a public spectacle of one's self.

Wise words Sir Daemon. It reminds me of an old Oathland saying.
When encountering a flanking force you do the safe thing and signal your comrades. OR. You can do the right thing and charge then with an Elk and a blacksmith with the best right cross in Arvum.

When Princess Caelis and Lady Fiora conspired to capture a goat at the birthday bash for Count Kael Keaton I thought they were joking when they said they were going to give it to me.
When I woke up this morning I opened my bleary eyes and there, standing on my chest, staring at me with baleful eyes like daggers was Timmons. The pygmy goat just stood there. It made no noise, it merely stared at me with intent I can only call malicious. I closed my eyes thinking I was just having a strange dream but when I opened them he was still there.
So I lifted him off my chest and set him on the ground and built a makeshift pen. At that point herding instinct took over in Caelis' pup Karri, and he hearded Timmons into his "pen" and proudly stood sentry.
As I left the room the goat just stared at me with hate. I think this is not yet over.

As I look back over my journal entries in recent times, I realize that.... I have been somewhat.... guarded in my entries. A quip here a bit of random commentary there, but it's been some time since I have truly shared my inner thoughts about much of anything. And so much has happened I feel like I have been lax in committing my thoughts into these page. Yet there is so much I feel I should have spoken off that I am not even sure were to begin.
So I guess it is ironic that today, I came upon an entry my sister Princess Tabitha made in her own journal so many years ago when she was explaining why your white journal is so important.
"I told Eddy that his journal is important because it creates a record of knowledge. Even if it is about something that seems unimportant. It is a record of you. The white journal that we share is an amazing thing, because it lets people that have never met you, know you. That's a powerful and an important thing. What you stand for, what makes you laugh, what makes you sad, what makes you angry. These are all things that will build a bond with the people we've given our Oath to. Many will tell you be careful in what you share, and while I certainly understand you can't share everything, be honest in what you do, be thoughtful, and be critical of what you /do/ share and you'll be a richer person for it."
When I first came to Sanctum after becoming the High Lord of Oathlands, I had a copy of Tabitha's journal transcribed and sent to me, because her's was the wisdom that always guided me when I didn't know what was right or what was wrong.
I am sorry I have not been good at sharing lately Tabby. I will do better. Maybe if you return to use someday, you'll read my words and even though, you won't be the same you.... maybe some part of you will take comfort inn our story after we lost you.

I feel I should speak in defense of Prince Fergus who I think is being unfairly lumped in with the Defenders of Thralldom. He suggested that people should mind thier own business. And while it is certainly a debatable point if that is indeed the right answer it is an opinion that is his to have.
Maybe he believes that since change IS indeed coming to the Mourning Isles it is time to let them finish sorting through this change on thier own. If that is Prince Fergus' opinion then I will respect it even if I do not share.
Prince Fergus' has been through shit, blood and battle that would fold you, me and pretty much anyone that comments in these journals with regularity like a paper doll and he survived. Is he a caustic asshole at times? Certainly! But by the Gods he has earned that.

I can not for the life of me figure out what emotional investment an..... eclectic alchemist from the Lyceum has in defending the institution of Thralldom which is as illegal in the Lyceum city-states as it is the rest of Arvum outside the Mourning Isles.
I feel like maybe this is another form of experiment. Testing the results of combining combustible words and emotions instead of chemicals. If so that's impressive actually and I commend you.
Even so you seem a bit unbalanced. I could send some saurkraut soup and maple bacon muffins if you like. They are amazing recouperative foods.

It's no secret that High Lord Victus and I don't like each other very much. Despite our attempts to bury the hatchet that is not likely to change. I will take ownership of the fact that I am the one far less willing to compromise than he is. But that dislike has never extended to the people of the Mourning Isles.
That is why I look to the east and see the spread of the Darkwater Deeps and I feel like I am sitting here in Arx useless.
I have helped how I think I best can. I have sent ships, I wait to hear back from people that are dear to me if thier missions were successful. I trust people to do what I can't. Command a ship, navigate perilous waters and be an asset where I might be a liability if I were with them because of my inexperience in such a battlefield.
So instead of sitting here feeling useless, I am going to try and do something of value. I have long had a standing agreement to offer training and instruction to those that sought entrance into the Knights of Solace. I extend that offer to anyone that wishes to go and help combat the crisis in the Mourning Isles.
I do not know if what I have to impart will help you, but if you think it will you have but to ask. I can train in the use of sword and spear. Of mounted combat and how to fight back against a mounted foe. I can teach you the trail craft to keep yourself health on a long march or conflict, or to survive if you are separated from your comrades. I can even offer some drills to help you prepare to fight through pain of injury and stand fast.
If you think this knowledge can help you, you have only to ask me for instruction.

I am a hugger. I feel no shame at giving a good manly hug to a comrade in arms after a battle well fought glad that they stood by me at the darkest of hours. That said there is a better chances that tea pots spontaneously achieve sentience and start reciting dirty limericks than there is of High Lord Victus and I sharing such an embrace.
