Only now, on a ship sailing to assist the Malvici do I feel like I have a moment to gather my thoughts together . We have received so many messages and gifts and well wishes on the birth of Ellara. And for that, I give thanks to everyone who reached out.
Nobody told me, though, that it would feel as if I left my heart wrapped up in blankets at home when I left to board this ship. It may well be the hardest thing I have done, and she is barely old enough to kick her feet at me in recognition when I pick her up. Fortunately, I know her father is doting on her. I will be glad to see them both again very soon.

The faith of those in the Oathlands is strong, and well known. Even, at times, mocked by others. But I feel that when one of the Gods speaks or leaves us a sign, it behooves us to listen.
Whatever Mistress Penrose may have said, and however she may have said it, the Goddess Mangata did not take offense; she gave the woman a benediction.
Emotions run high right now, and understandably so. Let us all pray over the right thing to do. What would the Sentinel have us do. How would Gloria demand that we act? Honor tells me that forgiveness for those who speak truth, even undiplomatically espoused, is the chivalrous course of action. Especially when it would seem that Mangata's own actions have made her wished clear.

Relationship Note on Artorius
Though we had met briefly before, prior to the attack on the River Column of Bringers... I believe this was the first time that Lord Artorius and I have had the time to sit and get to know one another. He is a Knight, and reminds me very much of a Valardin one - which is a compliment, for those who are wondering. Being a Valardin Knight does not mean being stuffy, since I know that is often the stereotype. No, he is kind-hearted and chivalrous and noble. I have promised to help show him and Caelis around Sanctum once we all arrive for the wedding; he will be a most welcome addition to the family.

The Northernlude held by Princess Marian and Lady Khanne was quite fun! There were so many Northlands themed items, from blankets and drinks, to mugs for drinking with. Alas, I did not get to go ice skating. I mean, I wanted to... but stubborn family is stubborn. I was able to have some of the excellent whiskey available sent back to the Manor for Fia, at least. And, after much hot cider, Prince Fergus thoughtfully shoved snow down the back of my dress to make sure I would stay alert.

What a party! Princess Alarissa and Lady Monique truly outdid themselves with the evening celebrating our turn back to longer, lighter days. Several people liked the party favors so much, they tried to take the entire display and I really can't blame them! At our table, there was plenty of warmth and laughter... and I apologize, Edain, but I told the story about the rope trap and the tree.

I had the good fortune to meet Lady Reigna and her husband as we watched the archery contest. That they watched me stuff my face with bacon themed everything, and joined me in cheering like a loon ... but still did not come away with a poor impression of me definitely speaks well to a future lasting friendship!

Relationship Note on Fergus
A new brother-in-law. Gruff, with a negative etiquette rating! I can't wait to introduce him to the Valardin Manor dining room. But most importantly, he makes Marian happy. Which means we welcome him with open arms. And I get to learn a lot of new swear words.
I think the scholars are also going to cringe at what this does to the family tree, since I am married to her cousin. So that will make our children cousins twice to her children. First cousins through the web of marriages, and then second cousins (??) by blood?
