Relationship Note on Kima

Lady Kima is a terror with a sword, from what I've seen; I'd love the opportunity to cross my blade with hers, though I suspect she would outmatch me. We haven't had much chance to speak, but just from watching her fight, she's the sort of fighter I'd love to have at my side the next time I find myself dealing with a pack of direwolves that have made their den in some pre-Reckoning tomb.

Relationship Note on Eos

Lord Eos seems pleasant enough; not a fighter on the level of his sister Lady Kima, but he has enough skill with the blade to likely make an interesting sparring partner, and enough interest in travel and history to make an engaging drinking partner. Besides, it never hurts to have a few more Lycene friends, the next time my travels take me through the Lyceum.

It's strange, really, that a city as large as Arx can feel so claustrophobic. But spend enough time out there in the world, where there are places you can stand and look out to the horizon without seeing another living soul, and any walls start to seem too confining.

But for all that I'd rather be tracking that ruin out on the western edge of the Oathlands, it's more important to be here right now, with all the unrest going on. To support both my house and the Graysons.

Still, I find myself standing on the city walls, looking towards the horizon, and I'm already restless. I need to find *something* to keep myself occupied, or these walls will slowly close in on me.

Relationship Note on Salazar

In my experience, the wildlife with the most vivid colors and outlandish shape is usually trying to mislead you in some way. Whether to masquerade as some larger and more dangerous creature, or distract you from a weakness, there's almost always a motive to it.

What, then, should I make of Lord Salazar Argento?

The man speaks like a poet, every other sentence a flowery turn of phrase meant to evoke a vivid image. He acts with flourishes meant to draw the eye, and oozes charm like a tree leaks sap. And I can't help but wonder how much of that is genuinely who he is, and how much meant to lead the eye in the directions he wants.

Relationship Note on Valkieri

Cara's brother, a Lycene lord whose general attitude seems to fall on a spectrum ranging from annoyance to amusement. (There may be other axis to this chart, but I've yet to observe them for myself in any of our encounters.) Still, he proved a willing sparring partner, and another contact in the Lyceum never hurts; enough expeditions do have to move through that territory. Besides, there is a notable shortage of people in this city willing to let me hit them repeatedly with practice swords.

Relationship Note on Donella

I met Princess Donella Thrax today at the Market by happenstance. If she did not give her name as Thrax, nor if the guard that followed her bore any sigils, I would not of guessed. She was kind in demeanor, witty and a pleasure to be around. Though I could still see that Thraxian steel just under her exterior, especially when it came to getting what she wants. Admirable, in a woman of that House to hold such qualities. I hope to meet her again, I am sure she has an interesting and unique history. Though I suspect that is something only those close to her learn.

My first day back in Arx. It has been a while since I have been in this part of the world. The rich history of the city can be found on every street. Tales of the Great Houses written on every wall. The architecture of each Ward, each Burough, virtually breathes it, much to my delight. Eventually I will need to track down my spirited brother and my cousins who I hear are also in the city. Like any place, I wonder how long before I feel the urge to be outside of the city walls, back in the field. That yearning for adventure, for now, is contained within the city and it's secrets.
