Being underestimated in any capacity used to be such an incredible source of frustration for me. It often resulted in screaming matches with my father, or devious traps laid out for my older brothers to stumble upon during their training exercises (I have no regrets! Older brothers must be taught lessons).
But, training with Lord Commander Dayne took some of the wind out of my sails, as it would any new squire or Knight in training. He did not go easy on me because he was my Uncle. In fact, I am rather certain that he was twice as hard on me knowing I had a physical deficit to make up for and he would be doing me a disservice otherwise. And I worked. I worked harder at everything he set me to then anything I had ever done in my life, and then I sought out more. Because I was absolutely not going to fail when I had been so adamant about my life's path.
So now, when I am underestimated about anything at all... it is a challenge that I relish. Because I am just too stubborn not to work at it until I prove them wrong.

Oh, oh! I have answers for this. I use different ones based on mood of course.
1) So that nobody sees me coming before I flail them in the face for insulting my big brother.
2) They had so many kids they just started to run out of height for them.
3) It took less height to make me perfect. (I often use this one after he's done something endangering enough to himself that I am compelled to throw shoes).

Many missions that bring us far from the city involve setting up and tearing down of campsites. It's something I've gotten used to over the past several years and often find it a somewhat enjoyable experience. But it is still nothing like taking a day or two and leaving the walls of Arx behind just to enjoy the open space.
A nice clearing beside a stream is perfect, with dinner ready to be caught not more then a few feet away. And then room enough to make a campfire and set up a tent. It's like you can hear yourself think again. All of which I must thank my husband for, as I rarely take the time to do things like that.

A thought has just occurred to me, and I feel I must solicit opinions.
Timmons the Malicious Pygmy Goat, and Vex the Vexatious Pygmy Owl. I fear that if the two are ever in the same room, the manor may in fact implode from the sheer intensity of dual glares. But... BUT, it may just be worth it. I wonder if there is a leatherworker skilled enough to make a special satchel of sorts that Vex could sit in, and be toted around by Timmons.
Together, they could glare at everyone in Arx. It would be a thing of terror and beauty. But mostly terror.

A more Valardin wedding I have never heard of. There was the requisite interminable length of vows, and off-key singing. But then... there was the ring and clash of steel, the pounding of hooves, and some very Knightly ass kicking and bravery.
My heartfelt gratitude goes out to Katarina, Alexis, and Monique. Without them having stopped an Assassins blade this may not have been the resounding victory that it turned out to be. And without Eirene and Eleyna, our Alexis may not have made it.
I wish I could thank everyone by name, and I am sure I have forgotten a heroic deed. But it is not meant to slight anyone. I am just so relieved, and so happy. Thank you, everyone. Really.
