You need have little to no experience in archery to compete in the tournament! While it would help, it isn't certainly not necessary.
I hope to see everyone there! The prize is most definitely worth the risk of failure.
(OOC: Seriously, you don't need an archery stat)

Thankfully, Messere Belardi's healing ointments work wonders, and you can bet I'm coating my fingers before I sleep. Hopefully it won't be so noticable come the evening, and if that's the case, I'll just wear gloves.

And those that attended ... gracious. Wonderful. Ianthe looked to be enjoying herself, as did my peers, and I am grateful for that. The teasing, the laughter, the inside jokes and comments that will haunt me for -years- ... sigh.
All in all, a Fete well done.

Living in the city my whole life, I, like everyone else who'd attend, -adored- the tournaments. I love the energy, the competitors, the crowd, the moments of staggering disbelief, the flush of patriotic pride when good sportsmanship proves it's far from dead, and the -rush- of -joy- (or anger, depending on who wins) when the victor is crowned and presented.
Swords can vary between elegant weapons, born of a civilized culture, through a spectrum of sizes and kinds into the massive great-swords my father favored. But as I've noticed, there were flashes of envy in the common-folk and nobility alike that their weapon-of-choice was not represented.
Archery is a skill I've admired, the bows and arrows constructed by Ida works of art that I've always been in awe of. I can't remember the last time we -had- an archery tournament.
And the prize? Ah, my friends, it is a marvel. I cannot say more. But it is far and away worthy of being called 'prize'.
I hope everyone can attend!

Relationship Note on Gareth
...don't look at me like that. I'm completely serious. I wouldn't lie about something as important as this.
Did you write it down? Prince Gareth Grayson -adores- kittens. He will tickle kitten bellies all day.
He will even -smile-.
Just ask him. I left a whole basket of the fluffiest kittens I could find on his desk this morning. Some people like flowers as a way of apology, others weapons, still more like books.
If you want to appease Gareth, just give him a bouquet of live kittens.

For now, I'll only say this:
Why. Why must you be so wonderful in the beginning? To kiss you is to brush the edges of heaven's breath. And you burn in me, sweetly, reminding me of days long passed, when I was loved completely and whole.
But in the end it always turns out the same. I let you run through me, take over, hijack even my most basic of functions.
And I know like a fool, I will find you in the most unusual places and be unable to resist.
Curry. You beautiful, horrible, cruel mistress. Never again.
I mean it this time. I can't in this moment even remember what I loved about you to begin with. All there is, is fire and pain. Cruel bitch.
On a serious note, Prince Mason is lovely, as is Princess Lou. I wouldn't mind speaking to them again in the future.

Working on a collection of things for the upcoming events, working too long and too hard and oh, right, I'm not supposed to drink and carouse so loudly. Might ruin my bid for guildmaster. I have a -reputation- to build/keep.
It's been close to a week sober. My forms of entertainment include an outing outside the city walls, a sober dinner with my sister, -two- of them, running into my former lover who then goads me into crying, -in public-, wherein I flee like a humiliated little girl picked last for field-ball.
And I admit. I'm tense. I miss ... people.
But it's the first time in a while I've missed with my hammer.
It doesn't hurt anymore, but it did at the time. I'm going to need a day for it to heal lest I injure it further, and my thumbs are too valuable to mess up. But I threw that hammer across the room and I shattered one of the black obsidian slabs we hang for our customers to look at their reflection in when they try on my wares.
My assistant may have started to cry, poor boy.
So here I am! Stopping by to rave like a monster at nothing. And you, scholar, will you cry too?
(there are wet splotches on the page, and it looks like the handwriting is different, suggesting a different person took over)
I've nothing left to say. Maybe I can find solace in violence. Give your peer my apologies, scholar.
