I thought to start something with an Oathland flair, for I have had reason to meditate and consider the Valardinian Crusades of late. There isn't much widely written as I have seen on them, and should any Oathlander be so kind as to improve a Whisper's insights into their history, I would be most grateful.

Then a letter dropped from Legate Ailith reminded me of another project long in the making, one I set aside some months back. Trying to stitch faith into a cloak or robe, and doing it justice to the Pantheon, is not easy. Here I sit in my atelier, surrounded by ten of thirteen designs and Athenais questioning whether I have gone mad to think the last three are done in an hour.

Where was my creativity all this time?

I shouldn't be overly fond of one dress over another, though hearing of Princess Sabella in diamonds of ironwool makes me rather delighted indeed.

Such symmetries, such beauty. I hope it pleased her.

I am grateful for many things.

Truly for the warmth of spirit and kindness displayed by some cherished friends in this city. They are the lights of my day, the dawn breaking over the horizon on my thoughts.

I have not nearly enough messages in my hands this week. If you seek a correspondent over any topic at all, do send me word.

When loss is a sorrow, hope is a gain. Spring will come, darlings.

Discretion, that rarest of draughts, is more precious to us now than water in the stony desert.

Ode to the garden, how welcome is the sepulchral gloom that embraces me, and warms the gloaming with a smile.

What beautiful things demand to be made in honour of so many upcoming events. The fantasies of an ocean, the tumbling of Thorns. Are there others I have missed?

East of the Sun

As the starlight fades,
And the crimson tinge is gone,
The weary soul sings
As hope on golden wings
Alights with the coming dawn.

The unexpected turns of life reward the patient. The joy of greeting an old friend is finer than brocade. Almost.

How the error of a moment
is but a grain
beginning the avalanche.

Can we cry foul
Lashing the sea
and halt the tide?

I heartily endorse traveling to the Lyceum for a hint of sun and balmy warmth. It is just the thing to inspire the spirit and ease the grip the city imposes on the mind.

The flowers will bloom.

Stars turn in the sky.

What is this longing under faltering snow and soughing breeze?

She lends her pen
To silver thoughts
Benedictions
A gift of green roads
And pearls by the sea.

She lifts her voice
In gratitude
With every word
She will remember
The Kind Goddess.

I should not want to wrap myself up in a warm blanket and settle in with this magnificent book about healing techniques by Marquessa Keaton, but I rather wish. The details are so rich, even for a complete initiate to the arts like myself.

Such beautiful troves of knowledge are an asset to acquire.

I've been quietly blessed by the soft hours to rest, and take strangely direct satisfaction from my work for once.

An afternoon spent in thought and tranquil contemplation at the Shrine of Limerance has a way of reframing one's thoughts.

Oaths, promises, bonds of loyalty: they seem such a philosophical exercise. Many would not stop and think how profoundly a promise, or a social ranking, affects their lives. For nobility, the picture is clearer. The allegiance owed within a chain of fealty is a prominent factor in events, payments between houses, promises made. A wedding too affects everyone in society choosing to abide by those sworn vows. It is more than transactional for nobility or Crownsworn citizens. Something deeper underpins the foundations of these acts and deeds.

How deep does it go?

Consider that for yourself for a time.

Such unexpected and delightful discoveries at the Golden Hart have relit a flame deeply banked these past few weeks. Perhaps there is some charm buried in the very building by Princess Valencia to lend itself so to loosening those shackles on my creativity.
