This day's smoking blend - well away from the precious pages contained within the Archives and Stacks - because while I am a drug-indulged ass, I am a drug-indulged ass that respects books (only slightly more than - some - or most people.) There was added cat-mint, peppermint, spearmint, and lemon balm and lemongrass from the Seawatch gardens. It's wonderfully fragrant and seems to bring out a pine flavor out of haze that generally brightens my mood.

Notes for a scent: Toasted cardamom, salted orange blossom honey, a merchant prince's treasure trove of richer spices - among them cinnamon, cracked black pepper, and star anise. A splash of dark rum against sun-warmed skin musk, and a fleeting caress of aged black leather accord.

The appearance of perfection causes envy.
As you rise in power - in glory - in notice on your chosen route through life, you will notice those eyes - the ever watching, never blinking eyes of your audience. The attention will then turn to you. In that case, you should definitely take your bow - but do remember that you not take all the credit. Be aware not to appear too perfect, it's important for your audience to believe you - to see the attainable within; a silver-edged ribbon of hope to tie a future on. Be approachable. This means when needed, you should sparingly admit to shortcomings and acknowledge faults.

Notes for a scent: Apple blossom lightness, honeysuckle sweet, bergamot brightness - layered with freshly turned earth and hay, salt, and new steel. Or, the taste of cold cider in a forged metal cup, cold - crisp - sweet red fruit with a hint, a suggestion of biting sour. Ensnarement.

Notes for a scent: Arms full of roses and a spice-laden stroll through an Isle city's streets. Yes - dewy red roses, waxy stem and leaf, bitter bite of aniseed for thorns, smoky chilies - warmed baking spices, and with candied ginger and roasted cocoa for the challenge. Provocation.

Notes for a scent: A chill winter draft across bare skin, like a shadow shifting from the corner of your eye - a soft scent like the skittter-scurry of a spider across your brow before the ghostly press of a silken web is felt. Salt, cool stone, white musk and white linen and white sugar with a trail of white pepper. Phantasm.

Be generous with your friends. Be honest. Be even more generous with your enemy. Be even more honest. Give openly, give without expectations - this approach charms your friends - and it disarms your enemy. Give before you take everything. A word, a kindness, a favor. This can be a future distraction, or, a series of small acts toward a larger plan. This only works if you are utterly sincere, because false generosity never convinced anyone.

By assuming a shape, by taking a side, by making plain the intention or making the plan visible is to court attack. Instead of this, making yourself vulnerable and open to attack - make yourself adaptable. Speak softer. Be seen less. Take the time to make yourself formless, shapeless, as free flowing as water or sand. Everything changes. Even as you leave your enemy with an empty fist, remember that nothing is certain. Nothing at all.
