The sloops are coming off the dry docks now, although not in huge numbers. The one I ordered did, however and it is now proudly at dock here in Arx. Named The Curious Mind, with critical input from a friend sorting through my brainstormed choices, she is sound and sleek. I am more than happy with the lines, the craftsmanship and the spirit I see in her. I will take a cabin and the captain will take one, but she reuires little crew for her size. Overall, this is a good day for my own goals and the aims of those who will benefit from her use.

New apartment, same responsibilities. Long and short is no drama, no new crises. We are still trying to arrange meetings and manage schedules, but I feel that is an endless task and so more workaday operations than a special project. I feel like I am running each day, yet there is no special recent project or event that can account for such. Maybe I just need to get out of the city more...

It is unfortunate that I have not had time to meet with our new Archlector as I am very curious about the man. For this reason, I have made a private commitment to bump that meeting to the top of my list. Not that the Dream listens to my commitments! Beyond that, I can write only of a relatively quiet week, almost a luxury in these times, a time of peaceful catching up. My gear is clean and ready again, edges honed and animals groomed, all waiting for the next call to action.

A quiet week! Thank the gods. Prince Sebastian is inducted into the Scholars and Archlector Giada is moving ahead with her ritual. We have a new Archlector for the Scholars as well, so we are now sharing the many administrative burdens amongst more people. Not spectacular or dramatic, the week

I was recently approached by Prince Sebastian and His Highness is being inducted into the Scholars of Vellichor, where I expect his keen mind and extensive influence to be of great value expanding out reach and teaching. Additionally, the prince is very much willing to oppose those who threaten the COmpact and the Faith, making him a strong link in the chain of safety we are forging. Beyond that, we have several initiatives moving forward on different fronts with knowledgeable and skilled champions, efforts I believe will continue to make us stronger and safer.

Prince Sebastian has joined the Scholars and added his intellect to our study of historic lessons, especially around strategy. A much-needed bit of examination for The Compact's safety and success. With his rank and focus, he could become a very valuable teacher, translating studies of past efforts into information presented in a way modern military leaders can grasp. Teaching is more than just conveying knowledge as it much include coaching and framing that allows the students to actually internalize the lessons being offered. His Highness seems like he might have the knack for such.

I passed the Explorer entrance exam and I have planned to put the skills to use, continuing to polish them while being of some help to the Faith and the Compact. I am not yet much of a threat to anyone in open combat, but I am growing practiced at survival on the road...at exploring and investigating. I hope this will make my reach more significant and my ability to work more flexible. Humanity is mobilizing against various lawless aggressors, much is yet to be learned from old ruins and writings, and I can be of much more use if I can help beyond the walls of the Archives.

I have been continuing my unimpressive, snail-like progress toward becoming a formidable and impressive investigative scholar and missionary. In particular, I passed my entrance exam for the Society of Explorers thanks to the persistence and invaluable help of Lord Vitalis. Now he is actually making me administer a supervised entrance exam to Lady Kiera. I continue to take Griz out into the countryside, sometimes mounted or otherwise afoot, working on my fitness and skills. Griz helped my flush a deer during the exam, which validates the time I have invested in training him, and the time I have invested in archery (not to mention all those lost and broken arrows!) While this is not the only way I am able to spend my days, not by a long shot, it is still a major bit of news for me. In the end, I hope to be a respected member of the Faith's outreach teams.

I passed the Society of Explorers entry exam today. Lord Vitalis and I spent two days and one night on the road, or the trail, rather. I managed to make a decent showing of myself, even bringing down a doe with my bow. I will not be mistaken for the Ranger Princess anytime soon, but I did get through the trip without bungling badly. The Faith and The Compact have endured several recent attacks by Abandoned heathens. This irreverent and criminal behavior has occured both inside Arx and at various other locations in the realm. It cannot be endured because the insult is intolerable, because good people are being hurt and because it might grow into a serious threat to the safety of our citizens. With this reasoning, searches and strikes are being mounted to meet and hound the outlaws behind the actions. I am ready to be tested for the Explorers and Lord Vitalis has been after me to set a date under his oversight. I am lucky to have such a steadfast tutor prodding me to action as I hope to lean on the experience of seasoned explorers when I do my part to track and study these enemies.

In other news, my usual routine of study, teaching, training Griz and myself, and trying to contribute to the Scholars has kept my scurrying. I have been scarce both socially and in various meetings or ceremonies, but it cannot be helped given my workload. I hope to soon free up some time to be available for such things and I am grateful for the patience of my peers. Trying time that will likely get harder before we tame them, but such are the hurdles the gods test us with!

Been too busy lately to really accomplish a lot of goal advancenent, but Lord Vitalis has kindly offered to put me through my paces for the Explorers exam, so things are moving, if more slowly than they were for awhile. I have been having my leathers reinforced and I continue preparingn Griz, plus i have had more medical work recently to keep me sharp. It is not easy preparing for conflict on this level, but I feel it is where the gods want me.

New ruins scouted! Not that it was anything to shake the foundations of the realm, but we scouted an old keep and found a journal. Poison Ivy, too, but I managed to steer clear of that! Had to scale a wall and do a couple of other athletic things, so my explorer training seems to be paying off. I am hoping to participate in more such trips soon, allowing me so field experience that will help as I build my additions to the Faith's history.

I have been too busy to keep up with my own goals, but maybe that is a good thing? I will continue to train and prepare, but I am actually doing now as well. I missed two excursions outside, but I am much better trained and equipped than I was a couple months ago, so I have gained ground. Need a horse and more practice with that bow, but getting there. Anyway, I have a plan for doing some travel and offering teaching and healing as we reach those in need on the road. It will take me out of Arx at times, but The Scholars have good officers and the Archives are staffed by trained people with years of experience, so I am not very worried about the city surviving my absence...

In a week, Explorer teams go to do some location scouts and closer missions. I have continued my practice and my exercising, including nearly being swept away by a storm in the new sloop. Good training for footwork and balance, that one! The ongoing preparations are having their effects, though, as I become a bit less clumsy and a bit more ready. Lady Medeia has generously shared her knowledge on healing and herbs with me (not to mention her own injuries!), starting a new leg in my medical training that should leave me even more valuable as a field medic. By now, I am confident that I am going to at least be able to carry my own weight in the survival efforts of the teams. I want more than just that, of course, but I ammaking easily seen progress.

Finally. Action joins talk as the Compact's various forces begin to roll. Including poor Brother Aelgar, as I am going to expand my practice and training. I was able to help Lord Vitalis with a wound without dropping the sutures, I advanced Griz's training so he no longer stares baffled when I command him to silence, and I actually had an arrow leave the bow in a forward direction this week. Oh, and I am to be tested for the Explorers, where serious training can begin. I suppose none of this would impress a trained knight or experienced Explorer, but I am allowing myself a pat on the back. Plus the new sloop design trials today and if we can avoid sinking it, we will have a blockade runner that can get the medics and their supports to distant locations faster and more reliably than any previous transport managed. All in all, I am feeling thrilled to see the plans begin to lumber into motion.

I have spent the week in the black forest for the most part, working on those skills that might help me be less of a burden and more of a survivor for the upcoming trip with the Explorers. I still cannot hit the side of a barn with this damn bow, but I found most of my arrows over the past three days. Griz is silent as a ghost now and I am learning. I have reached out to teachers all around Arx and I am hoping to bring some of these skills to a passable level with their help. I have also lost that little layer of softness living in the city provided me and my wind has increased. I may never be a knight, but I hope to at least avoid getting anyone killed through clumsiness!

I have spent the week in the forest Training the dog to move quietly and to help me with melee fighting as a team. I have also been practicing my archery, which is woefully neglected. As well, I am also training the raven to carry messages around conflicts rather than over them to reduce the chance of him catching an arrow. My own wilderness skills are improving and I have tried to gain a spot in the Explorers, an effort I expect to pay off in the very near future. Hopefully this will allow me to personally witness some of the things I only hear stories about and add to my histories as well as be of some practical use to those who are taking the risks with all the scouting.

I continue to get ready for a more active role in the defense of the Compact. I have been accepted into a scouting party and I am preparing to join the Explorers. In the end, I hope to be able to dispatch to problem spots are detected so that I can be available to help block any advances by the enemy early in their process. Whether I will be of any use or not remains to be seen, but the concept that we are supposed to put the knowledge to use in order to stop that which we opose seems to me best served By having Scholars at the forefront.

I am volunteering for a scouting mission in the Three Rivers Area. While I am not a superb woodsman, I have a basic knowledge of the skills come from growing up in the country. I can avoid chopping my foot off when gathering firewood and I can actually make the fire with the wood gathered. I am not the clumsiest person I have met and I can navigate the woods without going in circles. The task will be to find a suitable place where an outpost for Faith troops might be raised, so it is not an endless exploration of unknown frontiers and I feel it might be good practice, education for skills that may be critical later. It will reinforce my application for Explorers and it will get me out into fresh air for a bit. Get some exercise. I am unsure whether I will qualify to be chosen, but I will find out.

I am making more contacts every week, people interested in speading knowledge and those feeling drawn to service. Just yesterday, I spoke with a young man who is called to his oaths as Godsworn, and a week ago I inducted yet another Scholar Disciple. We are growing, yet the cohesion is still not as solid as it could be and so some of us work to tighten the glue between the thirteen shrines, making so many pieces into a smoothly functioning whole. In the end, we are hoping that the end will be a deeply integrated and cooperative process that will help people immerse their lives into Faith.
