Relationship Note on Gabriel

Duke Gabriel Bisland is veteran fighter, Lady Dawn's foster father, and Duchess Iona's husband. He seems no-non sense. A man whom I know to respect for what he's done for House Grayson.

Relationship Note on Gabriel

Duke Gabriel Bisland came to see me at the manor the other day. I feel like that lacks gravitas due this situation. THE Duke Gabriel Bisland came to Valardin manor to see me other day. I am fairly certain he thought I was acting like a star struck fool at first. It is hard not to be overwhelmed meeting one of the knights you spent your youth idolizing. Maybe the only man in all of the compact that was a match for my late uncle, Lord Commander Dayne he is one of the ideals of knighthood I can only hope to live up to one day. Ok I'm digressing. We had a very good conversation about the state of the kingdom and the challenges that lay before it and it bolsters my confidence knowing he is here to help us in our time of need. I just hope he doesn't think I am a nincompoop.

Relationship Note on Gabriel

Returning to Arx has stirred up many memories for us. There was a time where this was our home, taking care of old Alaric's throne while his younger needed our guidance and nurturing. We moved our entire family -- young Michael, and younger still Lailah and Samantha -- and set up a life in Arx, a life we knew was temporary.

Now, back to preserve the throne again for Alaric, I am left looking on those days where you reluctantly held the crown and sat in the throne, and turned everything aside to make sure that all our children -- all of them, of blood and bone or not -- were given the tutelage they required.

Will we succeed again this time, or -- like a shore weathered with age -- will we be washed back into the sea, with all the secrets we hold?

Regardless the answer, know that I am beside you all the way -- the equal you have always seen me as, and a Voice of immeasurable volume.

Relationship Note on Gabriel

After my father died, it was Duke Gabriel Bisland who took over the task of raising Alaric and I. Taking in two children still reeling with grief, one of them a future King, was no easy thing to do but I believe he did so without hesitation. It was Duke Gabriel who provided stability and guidance through my teenage years and it is to him, in part, that I owe my present ability to navigate these difficult waters.

Relationship Note on Gabriel

He rescued me when I was a little girl, and in the early years after, I was effectively his ward. He didn't necessarily have a lot to do with me directly but he's always been passingly fond of me, and spent much of my early childhood as part of his household before returning to Old Oak to to learn how to rule it as Marquessa. As far as I can remember, he is the closest thing to a father figure that I have. I am grateful, I want him to be proud...a part of me wishes I actually was his daughter.

Relationship Note on Gabriel

Ask anyone on the streets of Arx who's the greatest knight in the land now that Dayne's dead and chances are they will tell you it is Duke Gabriel Bisland. Gabriel! Squire Gabby! That boy that looked like he was twelve the first time I met him, bright eyed and so green he could have been a hedge! But I guess he's a big damned hero now after all the work he did with the shavs. To me though? Hard to think of him as anything but that kid, that young bright squire, so I might let that slip. Repeatedly. Something I take great delight in referring to him as, or sometimes I make it even more casual and just call him 'son.' It makes the Graysons mad as hell and so it's one of the few guilty pleasures I refuse to give up. Gabriel himself? It doesn't seem to bother him. Seems to appreciate keeping him grounded. I figure helping to keep him humble is the least I can do for a battle brother that I've fought alongside over the course of three decades. He's welcome.
