My basket for Princess Sabella's raffle is almost complete. I am just thinking if there is something else to put in it. Ryhalt said maybe a sword ... I am not sure about that, though I should go visit Princess Sorrel and take her up on her thought about another bottle of spirits.

Nothing like a basket of things to get drunk and stuffed on, after all.

Relationship Note on Aahana

Lady Aahana gave me a gift today. It's a beautiful dress and slippers, and I am very much going to enjoy wearing them out. I think I will startle some, as it is a Lycene fashion statement. But it is absolutely beautiful, and it needs to be seen to be believed.

I wonder who will notice it first.

I'm not sure what exactly prompted the discussion on siblings, but I grew up with 2 older brothers and an older sister. Ryhalt is Duke now, and I still get to spend time with him. Armand died in Stormwall. Elsbetta has only recently come to Arx to join us - really recently, a matter of a day or two!

I am very glad to have my family and to be able to cherish the time I get to spend with them.

My not so deep thought of the day yesterday - must one die in order to be a hero? I know that is not so deep as some questions others ask, but it seemed to be one that was worth considering. So, it was something that I spent some time considering, while in the Hall of Heroes. Duke Harlan happened by, and we chatted for a bit, but I am not sure I even voiced my question to him. Unsurprisingly I found no real answers. I then spoke with Lord Ingvar at Bold Espressions, and we had an interesting conversation on heroes.

Obviously, in order to be buried and honored in the Hall of Heroes, one must be dead.

I think it might just be that in general, heroes do the right thing, even when it is dangerous, putting themselves in the way of harm and/or overwhelming odds.

And that perhaps leads to death more often than not.

Did I mention that I had a meeting with Prince Edain? I am glad I did, as I had not really spoken with him before. He's a very courteous host and listened to my concerns quite kindly.

And then later on I met a reaver who likes to sing, self styled. Lord Ingvar is a treat to flirt with. I probably should not say that, but there is nothing wrong with a bit of harmless flirtation, is there?

The stories for Gild event was hosted by Archlector Etienne the other day. I went and I listened to the stories of generosity and giving, and how Gild has impacted people. I could not think of a story to tell. Perhaps by the next such event, I will have come up with a story I can share.

I went to the picnic in the Redrain Gardens the other day. They have very lovely gardens and the tea was exquisite. I am glad I went, as I got a chance to catch up a bit with Princess Sorrel and Lady Amari.

Oh. And Ryhalt named me as a Voice for House Farshaw too. I guess that means I can't quite be purely ornamental any more.

The monthly gowns and skirts night was quite fun! Hosted by Lady Amari and Princess Coraline, it was well attended. I met some new friends, which is always a good thing, in my opinion. There was even an infiltrator as Sir Jordan showed up, looking exquisite in a lovely gown that made most of us ladies a little jealous. He had some rum with us and then wandered off, perhaps to show his legs to High Lord Victus. That would explain the shout of "Nice Legs," at any rate. The rum was very good, which may explain my headache this morning. I look forward to the next one, in a month's time, to be hosted by Gianna Whisper.

Relationship Note on Ryhalt

I find I look for my brother's journal entries these days. He seems to often have something funny to say. Ryhalt, brother mine, I dress perfectly fashionably. But definitely not like a sheep. Except maybe in winter, that might work then.

The coffee club at Bold Espressions was fun. I hope those who attended enjoyed themselves. Now I will have to find another prize for the next time. I think I like that name-that-thing game- we will have to play it again sometime.

I am sad to hear of Prince/Sir Barric and Lord Valerio. I did not know either well, but certainly they were much loved and they will be missed.

Finally met Prince Tyrval. He is quite something, he is. I am sorry I haven't had the opportunity sooner. And now? Now I think I should like to learn to speak Nox'Alfar.

I am all excited over my upcoming trip home. I look forward to seeing everyone again, and taking a bit of a break from the hectic business that is Arx.
