Relationship Note on
Eirlys
I have lost yet another Greenmarch child. I know, in truth, that none of them are my children or family by blood, yet they felt it. They embraced me as one of their own, in a very strong way, when they first came to the city. Adopted me. Each one remarkably warm, kind, and willing to trust a woman who they likely were unsure would trust them back. Oh, but how I did, and cared for them like my own blood. I learned so much about each of them through the first weapons they commissioned, later replaced with better ones as their positions and prowess grew, but when someone puts their life in your hands by requesting a weapon - a thing that may decide between life or death - I don't know how to describe how special such an honor feels.
Time has passed, duties taken up and, indeed, we all became busy with our expanding lives. Yet even with that, much like my children living their own full lives in Sanctum, my heart never lost its fierce fondness for any of them. Lady Niamh's loss was difficult, but I feel I see her every day in the runted war elk she so graciously gifted me what feels a lifetime ago. Lady Eirlys - this hurts. Her enthusiasm for life seemed boundless, her adoration of her friends without question, and the gods and spirits know she was as fierce as any mother bear when it came to protecting anyone she cared for.
Too young, too soon, yet doing exactly what I know she would do - saving. The world will be a bit darker without you, my lady.

Was it the Josephine and Dante one? Found that on Joscelin's rocking chair outside our shops the other night. Fabulous read.

How lucky I am to share fealty with you, Countess Reigna, and the whole Keaton family. It seems the Oathlands are full of people with giving and generous hearts, something you and your family have shown me numerous times. How proud /I/ am, too, Countess, and humbled by such kind words.

I would teach even though who wish to join The Faith as well, of course. Smithing as well as pugilism, should you have any interested. How fortunate they are, as are we all, for all the good provided by The Faith. If I might be able to help somehow, in any small way, how could I possibly turn down such an opportunity?

There is no one I would rather ride into an ambush with, on the back of a war elk, than you, Sir Daemon!
You are the best of people.

Jeffeth
Sir Jeffeth, if any of those good kids with good hearts in the orphanages are old enough and want to learn smithing, you send them to me at Ferron Arms & Armor. It would not be the first time I've taken apprentices from the Lowers - Mistress Lola Tragedy to name but one - and I hope it will not be the last. Lessons are free, of course, as are two meals a day. Bit of sweat instead of silk, but I'd be honored to teach them.

I suspect I am in a better position than the mother of the children being discussed in the whites, I will recognize. I am fortunate in my trade as well as blessed with the most gracious of patrons and family to work for. I hope I do not dishonor them, or myself, with my words.
That said, you may take my children over my dead and lifeless body, as that would be the only way you'd even have a chance to actually take them from me. And? I would hope to make you suffer greatly for the attempt, no less.

I...fifth? Sixth? What others have said about our gifted artist and Guildmaster. I treasure my silver disk earrings like none of my other possessions. I will not be traveling anywhere for this upcoming war, that I am aware of, but I expect to be wearing those very earrings when I go to the wheel. They come with me, dammit. I'd throw more silver at her, but she'd throw it back and she's got better aim that one might expect.

Point me where you need me to go, dear friend. I need to get out more as well. I'm thinking we need a spa day, if anyone will let us throw silver at them for massages. Not literally throw, of course, as that would be both rude and likely painful. Still.

Myrinda
I did not get to know her as well as I had hoped, but by oaths and steel did I ever both admire and adore her. I don't think I ever wrote of her passing.
Thinking on that, I don't often write about any one's passing as of late. Neither here nor there, I suppose.
I do not own anything of Myrinda's, if only because I never asked nor attend things that her exceptional craftsmanship might be necessary for. Still, I will never forget the crafters dinner then Lady Dawn held, where I met the famed seamstress. Again, I regret not getting to know her better. Too often I think there will be time for things later and then there isn't.

I promise never to attempt to find you a 'suitable mate' ever. Besides, as far as best platonic wives go, you can hardly do better than me! Ha! But, truly, let me know if I need to quietly discourage anyone in particular dearest friend. I'll be gentle about it.

Margerie
The Lady Margerie Keaton is beyond grace and kindness, both in person as well as with word. Truly, her exceptional descriptions while we sipped hot chocolate in my shop were the driving force behind the weapons that were later forged. With so many truly talented smiths in the city, I am always grateful for patronage of my shop. Moreso, the Keatons as a whole have been such frequent and generous visitors that I was thrilled to be able to do more business with them. My thanks to Lady Margerie as well! Plus, she came with gifts. What's not to love about this noblewoman?

I can only speak for myself, though suspect I am hardly alone in this -- there is no greater feeling of accomplishment than when a blade that has come from your forge is admired. Even if only by its owner, that look is worth more than any piles of silver or gold in all of Arvum. When you are just as proud of that blade as they are? Bliss. Sheer and utter bliss.
Having seen Sir Thorley's blade personally, its age suggests being crafted by someone who I imagine is no longer present in our world. Were they here, though, I would very much like to meet such an amazing craftsperson just to see the hands that forged so fine a blade.

You mentioned how all Valardins seem so tall! Upon meeting Thorley, I believe? I, too, am a vaguely tall Valardin! So I was trying to think of something clever to say about it, but...well. I'm better with hammer and fist than quippery, apparently.
Hooray! At first I was unsure about the colors of the chairs, but they rather grew on me! There are baskets underneath to hold bottles, too. Just saying.

I finally got around to having rocking chairs made, because nothing quite says 'badass artist' like a crafter sitting in a rocking chair in front of their shop.
I don't much care for that smirk, scholar, so we are clear.
I should have more made, though in different colors maybe, now that I think on it.

I do not fancy myself a flower, with no disrespect meant. I prefer to think myself high quality steel. While I may not be a metal of enviable red hues or near mythical history, I am still quite pretty and shiny. Plus, I'll make you bleed near as quick, all told.

There are times when the silence of the forge becomes so heavy, I need to walk away from it for not a day or two, but weeks - even months. Other times? That silence is a welcome embrace in what seems an otherwise mad world just outside my door.

I have not been taking commissions, though have had some inspirations that stock Ferron Arms & Armor now and then. I am inspired once again, I think, to make swords in the theme of roses. Moved even, perhaps. What a world that indeed would be. For now, we should enjoy the quiet between the storms and while I can hope for a world where I make steel roses, maybe this will be close enough until such a day might come.
