I have never been to Fortezza di Iriscal, but if the food in La Rosa d'Ebano is any indication, I should make a culinary visit there as soon as possible.
Good company and delicious food is all one needs to escape the concerns engulfing us lately.

Honey Havens.
The project of remodeling the orphanages around the Oathlands was meant to be a simple affair: tidy up, refresh the staff, change the names, wipe the mark. Simple. Unfortunately, or should I say, fortunately for the children, I am very bad at keeping quiet about my projects and whoever heard of it offered to help! I was quite overwhelmed by the generousity and willingness of others, especially in such dire times, to work and give those children a better chance.
The list is long and varied, but aside from safety, food and shelter, those children now have a chance to grow up and learn a trade, get proper education, develop hobbies and a vocation upon growing up and mostly, become an active and respectable part of society. I'm sure despite their situation, they will experience many moments of joy and the traveling (suitable for children) Carnival of Master Venturo was just the first in many bright days.
I know its war time, I know there are more important things to care for. Nothing is important than this. Everyday things do not stop because of war. Why not do both?
The children are safe. I am satisfied.

I must admit that my introduction with the late Marquessa was not one of deep engagement. We met once and had a lovely evening of laughing and drinking which was sadly never repeated. However, when I was planning the construction for the Waystation and looking for artists, she was the first to offer her services.
There is always pleasant commentary about the art showcased there, from the glass beehive-shaped chandelier to the arrangements of local blocks displaying carved images of trade and cooperation, or civilization and knowledge being exchanged. Those images portray several written versions of the stories in all the related languages for those that stand the most chance of passing that way.
It is a magnificent display of art, tastefully and accurately placed. If you ever pass by the Domestique Bell, I urge you to stop and examine it, in honor of the Marquessa.

The recent travels back and forth to the Oathlands have been taxing. There are problems lurking in every corner and as much as I enjoy visiting home, it has taken a toll upon me. I am tired, weary and glum.
It is common sense that when you are good to your people, they will be good to you in return, however I could not be more appreciative to the people of Artshall with the pleasant surprise they had for me on my last visit. It has been months of work in the textile branch in hopes to create a new fabric suitable for winter but even with the help afforded me by Arx's finest tailors and in light of some troubles in the area, I had no hopes for it to come through in time.
The people of Artshall proved me wrong and upon leaving the city I was joined by three wagons full of luxurious tweed to bring back to the markets of Arx. I am grateful for them and they will be rewarded kindly, if only for affording me a little point of bliss in these trying times, a little bit of normalcy.

With everything that goes on, I find I need to frequent Artshall once a week in the next few months. The journey is taxing and some voiced concerns for my health and while I understand the logical step is to stay there awhile, I cannot think of being away from the city for so long.

When I inspect my role in the life of someone I care for, I'd like to imagine a pearl necklace:
If the pearls are all different shapes, sizes and colors then I am happy to be one of those pearls.
However, if the pearls are all the same, equal in size and shape and you cannot differ one from the other, I rather be the string or the clasp that holds the necklace together.
