I met Princess Marian Valardin in the training center for our exhibition fight. She's fast and I'm not familiar with the two blade style she favors. She was the better fighter on the day and deserves the victory, although I take some consolation in the fact I drew first blood. I would like to spend more time with her I think, she may be a little more uncultured than I'd like but I appreciate a lady who takes her swordplay seriously.
My efforts to improve the silk trade seem to have paid off, although I'll admit I find it difficult to keep up with all the obligations of my house. Belladonna is really far better at charming nobles and merchants than myself, but I will do the best I can while she is busy with other important duties.

Relationship Note on Gareth
When I first met Prince Gareth I'll admit I was rather taken aback. I am awfully fond of the pretty things in life and it's definitely the case that he's not one of them. But now I'm more curious than anything else, I find the life of an inquisitor morbidly facinating, and the story behind his injuries must be equally so.

Relationship Note on Alarissa
Princess Alarissa is a sweet girl, easy to befriend and pleasant company. It likely helps that she's also amazingly gorgeous, but she can also be a little stiff. Probably the Valardin in her, I just want to get her really drunk and teach her ribald sailor's songs.

Relationship Note on Talen
I met Talen looking dreadfully poetic on a balcony one morning. Then saw him again in a the Hundred Cities. I find the idea of trusting a commoner with the ancestral blade of the Velenosa rather odd to be honest, I'm not sure I care for it in fact. Oh he seems perfectly nice and loyal and competent and all but still, the precedent...

There's something that happens to sailors on the ocean sometimes. They see a storm coming and try to run from it, and even when it's clear they can't they keep running. The storm takes them in the stern or the side and they're dashed onto the rocks, they call it being stormshy.
I was never stormshy when I was sailing, even when maybe we could have outrun a storm I ordered my men to turn around and head straight into the waves, embrace our fate.
The fate of the king and his party reminds me of those times, it's a tragedy for sure, it will put the realm into turmoil for sure. But part of me can't help but find that turmoil exciting, part of me can't wait to rush headlong into it and see what may come.
Storms only bother those who don't like to get wet.

Relationship Note on Luca
Luca seems determined to suck the enjoyment out of any room he's in. His dedication to not caring about anything or anyone would be almost admirable if it didn't tend to also make it all but impossible to get anything interesting out of the man. I think he really needs a wife, perferably a crazy one.

I first encountered Brianna in the Ambassador where she proudly announced to Valencia that she could 'take me.' I'm sceptical of the claim but do admit I'm slightly wary to face her in the dueling arena, I hear Northerners bite and you can catch all sorts of nasty things from that.

I've seen Victus in the training yard a few times now, he's obviously capable and strong as a bull, but really needs to work on developing that personality. I suppose nobody hires a Thraxian for their charm.

I have not seen Isolde in a long time, it's fair to say she's changed. I must say I enjoy her however, she's very willing to stir the pot and make life more interesting, and I appreciate that in a person.

I met Edain at the Ambassador quite by chance, he was very sympathetic to my plight, both the hang over and the frustrations with trade negotiations. Still I wonder, is he really as kind as he seems? Can someone so seemingly nice and guileless really survive let alone prosper as a High Lord?

Uncle Niccolo has barely changed from when I knew him as a girl. Still impossibly proper, still you can't deny his abilities for all I might tease him. Someday I will get him to show his human side, after all he's the man who left his family and risked it all for love, there must be more behind the mask.

Hosted a card game at the Hundred Cities Inn, turn out was good but very varied. With fur covered northerns mixing with commoners and more refined individuals. Got to meet Kieran and Fergus, royals from the North and Valencia's in laws, also discovered Luca is completely terrible at cards.

I really can't imagine how Valencia manages to always seem so calm and happy when we all know she has to return to that hairy beast of a Notherner husband every night. It makes me shudder just to think of it, shudder and make sure I'm valuable enough to the family that nobody is ever tempted to marry me off like that.

I've arrived in Arx after being appointed Voice of Pravus. So far I'm enjoying the city, lots of new people to scandalize or duel. Still need to get to know most of the important players so I can start to work in earnest but am looking forward to the challenge.
