So the other day I said that I had become a scholar, then an explorer and I wondered what I'd be next.
A prince, apparently!
I look forward to seeing how much further Sir Bayweather can bow. At what point are we violating natural laws? Can someone fold in on themselves? If he just keeps bowing until he rolls up into sort of a cinnamon bun of martial puissance do I have to keep that in my pocket until I need it? These are questions no one should have to ask, but I guess they fall on the head of wise philosopher princes like me to consider.
Needless to say, I am deliriously happy and am eager for three months to be over so there can be a large party and I can start coming up with nicknames for all of my new cousins. (Also the being married part is very good because of the tremendous love I feel. I'll let Sabella plan the party, though. I have already been vetoed as far as having Steve as the ringbearer.)

A banjo is a stringed instrument (usually five strings) defined by its hollow head covered in an animal skin, so the head itself is something of a drum. Banjo music is characterized by using the fifth string to pluck out rapid notes called 'drone notes' which fill in around the melody, offering accompaniment within a single piece of music.

Woke up in a guest room at the Navegant Redoubt. Not sure how I got there, but I snuck out with the speed and grace of a master thief.
(Scholars note: Lord Niklas was quite hungover and snuck out with all the grace and speed of a bull moose.)
Leave only footprints, take only memories. That's what I say.
(Scholars note: in addition to memories and footprints Lord Niklas also took a bottle of Thraxian light rum, grumbling something about showing Lady Estil how to make a proper rum cocktail, and left a puddle of vomit in a decorative vase.)
And none knew I was there.
(Scholars note: many people watched him leave while he loudly hummed what he called his sneaking song.)

To be sure, though I may have joined the scholars and the explorers, I am, and will always be, firstly and foremost a builder of worlds, a weaver of tales, a dreamer of dreams and any number of other cloying ways to say 'playwright' that are even now giving my good friend Master Bastien a migraine.

It isn't easy, cousin.
Initially I was using a book called The Discount Book of Bird Training whose back cover promised an easy time training a bird to do any number of tasks, but whose pages were mostly filled with useless bird puns. In one section on gaining supplementary income from your bird it actually had the gall (gull?) to say that "selling eggs is an egg-sellent way to make some eggs-tra income". The same egg pun twice in one sentence. Why, the Thraxian critic in me nearly went to the publishing house with torch in hand! Fortunately keener heads prevailed and I instead used my book-sword to chop it into pieces.
After that it was mostly a matter of shouting and crying at the bird in turn until it agreed that we could grudgingly be friends. I'm hoping that the same tactic will eventually get through to Master Bastien.

We take arts criticism very seriously here in Thrax Ward, your highness.
A light drubbing is just the Thrax critic's way of saying 'you've found your voices, the structure is excellent and the dialogue is sharp, but you need to tighten up the third act and expand on the deuteragonist's motivations'. It's well-considered and fair.
It could be worse, my great uncle Harrold "Thumbless" Kennex was found guilty of using the passive voice in his essays.

Rum is not as good as brandy, but it can be improved on in a pinch. I came up with this my last time in Stormward. It is called a Minty Nik. A small handful of mint leaves. Two lime quarters. A cube of brown sugar. Delicately smash everything so as not to tear the leaves. Add as much rum as you feel you need. Stir.
