Regarding Jacque's supposed debt

Posted by Laric on 05/22/18
Citizens of Arx,

By now many of you have heard disquieting rumors about the character of the late Jacque Lyonesse nee Valardin. That he gambled away his silver recklessly against visitors from Eurus. That he accepted an impossible loan from a usurer. That he gambled that silver away and took even more; that the cycle perpetuated itself until the Eurusi visitors decided to put an end to it. I shall be brief in addressing the subject.

The Inquisition has not received any evidence corroborating these rumors, nor has House Lyonesse, House Laurent or House Valardin. Until that changes, I must emphasize these rumors are just that; tasteless rumors besmirching the honorable reputation of a man no longer among us. If it becomes apparent that this is deliberate misinformation, we will not look kindly upon the perpetrators.

Anyone with relevant information or evidence is encouraged to step forward.

In service to the Crown,

Moore shall be heartbroken until the Legate returns.

--- Faith of the Pantheon Stance (from Orazio) ---
To slander a murdered man is an act of cowardice and dishonor, and to accuse without evidence is an injustice. May the truth be revealed.

--- Culler Stance (from Torian) ---
The many commoners of Arx are surely pleased to know, and won't soon forget, the Inquisition's dedication to acting only with evidence. An important position in a time of so many baseless rumors.

--- The Court Stance (from Octavia) ---
A stayed hand is oft more just than one raised in impulse.`
