Dennoblement of Lord Faruq

To the Compact and the Archivists,

Let it be known that today is a disappointing day for House Seraceni as we lose one of our own to the wiles of hubris. While maintaining the respect of those who are peripherally involved, I must state the sad truths of what has occurred today and how this has brought us to where we are. Lord Faruq had been bragging to women at court about House Seraceni's eventual deposing of House Pravus as a ducal power. These claims were several and couldn't be limited to simple miscommunication even though I was able to present it as such because we were graciously given the benefit of doubt by the Duchess Belladonna. This isn't something to be said lightly and neither are the consequences of ones actions when said situation is brought to the attention of my Liege's Liege. Even still a diplomatic resolution was sought.

Lord Faruq would gather five hundred writs for the Duchess and issue them alongside an apology at a dinner between the three of us. It should be noted that I was trying to save face on behalf of my kin and keep this matter private and had succeeded in doing so. Instead of accepting this resolution Lord Faruq was further disrespectful and dismissive of tradition and the House's honor as a whole, he placed before me an ultimatum. This ultimatum was either forgo the punishment or lose him as a member of this House. Such a thing was not an easy decision to make but we cannot bend when it comes to stability in our domain and the potential to be, rightfully, dismantled for insubordination.

Sadly, this means Lord Faruq is no longer a Lord and neither does he carry the Seraceni name. I allowed the issuance of his Proclamation by the grace of my love for him still but let there be no mistake. He is an oathbreaker, he fomented rebellion and carried secrets of dissent in his heart. While I can forgive much, as a leader of this House and one who must set an example for those who come long after I have gone this was outside of my power to do. He is not banned from the Palazzo, he is not being banned from the Velenosan Ward because such a decree would leave a worse taste in my mouth than anything else that's taken place and while he has been cast out I do hope that he will find his honor again in a worthy life of someone who once held the titles of Peerage and Sword alike. With that being said, it will be my pleasure to answer any questions that will undoubtedly arise from his retaliation.

Take everything,
Lady Prisila Seraceni,
