The Break Is A Lie

So just to give you some idea of what we consider "staff break" (which is the worst name for it ever), in the last month we've closed over 1000 jobs, over 200 actions, and 130+ applications. We've also GM'd (or brought various NPCs) to over 50 scenes. All on our staff break.

Behind the scenes, we've been working on what we will be doing to wrap up this current chapter and transition into the next one, along with some of the themes and ideas that will be around in the next one. You've probably started to see some of that as action responses, or gotten hints of things in clues. And clues. Goodness. We've written a lot of clues and we have a lot more to write, but we don't have a good way to track those. We have, however, written at least 30 more clues this staff break.

From a coding perspective, you've seen new @cal code, bug fixes, outfits (!!!!), work/invest and donate commands. We've also been working on the design for dominion and domain improvements, more complex social coding, magic (yes, we are working on that!) and Tehom continues to tinker with combat as well as some fantastic and exciting ways to track plots and plot threads, a revamp to the way clues, secrets, visions, and other things all work together, and some GM tools that I'm excited to see.

On the crisis front, we have one crisis for the Lodge coming up at the end of the month, and there are a lot of moving parts to this one so as GMs we're braced for impact. One thing we're looking at from a storytelling perspective is how to get more diplomats and social characters involved in meaningful ways - if not in this crisis as it stands right this second, then certainly for future actions.

There are 2 actions in the queue right now, one to be resolved today, one to be resolved on Friday. There are a handful of secret requests and more clues to write and we're still at work. The "break" wasn't much of one, but we're working to move story forward and provide opportunities for fun for everyone.

So. September 1 is right around the corner. Be kind to your GMs. We're still busy using our powers for good (and evil). Thanks for being around for another year.
