Was My Investigation Wrong?

It's worth remembering that investigations may auto-target a clue which isn't exactly what you're looking for. For instance, if you put in a topic of 'Where Do Dragons Nest?' it might match 'dragons' and find you a completely different clue about dragons that isn't about where they nest, but about dragon culture, or about one specific dragon, or whatever. If you put in 'Death of Joe NPC' it might match 'Death' and give you an interesting clue about the Queen of Endings.
Now, depending on the investigation, we may still sometimes replace that automatic targeted clue with a specially-written clue, but often you'll just end up with something tangentially related (especially if there's nothing else left to find on what you're looking into).
Why do I mention this right now? Because when actions and investigations are temporarily turned off, a new investigation can only start if there's a pre-written clue that matches your topic. Since we're working to get caught up on existing actions and investigations during the freeze, we generally will /not/ write a new clue for those investigations that get put in auto-targeting something.
I thought I should mention this because sometimes people ask "I was investigating Very Specific Topic X, and I got something about General Topic Y. Is this a mistake? Can I get another clue?"
If it helps, think of it like when you're on Wikipedia looking for a specific page, and end up clicking on a link, and another link, and sooner or later you find something else only tangentially related but which is interesting nonetheless.
Sometimes you don't find what you were looking for -- but you should always find something interesting!
