Rules for the Game of Trades

Posted by Sabella on 03/31/21
1. Commoners and nobles alike may participate.

2. Things that are not tangible must be written on a book object (like an IOU). For example, if a tailor is offering to trade a custom three piece outfit made of honeysilk, they would do something like "write/title custom outfit certicate", "write This certificate presented to (tailor's name) entitles the bearer to a custom three piece outfit made of honeysilk to include their choice of a top or dress with either a bottom and hat or gloves or shoes, or a cloak with two from hat or gloves or shoes.", "write/finish", and then give that book object to whomever accepts the trade. Blank book objects will be provided at the event, however you are encouraged to come prepared if you already know what you would like to offer.
Other examples of intangible things might be praises, buildings on grid, or information/clues.

3. Trades may be as large or as small as you wish, but it must be something you are able to offer (such as one of the IOU book objects, or your own resources, silver, items in your inventory - do not promise things on behalf of an org or another character).

4. Items may be traded multiple times. For example, say you traded 1500 economic resources for the IOU custom outfit certificate. You could then trade the IOU custom outfit certificate to someone else for two epiphanite.

5. All trades must be made at the time it is agreed upon. If person A offers 1000 military resources and person B offers 83000 silver, once agreed upon by both parties, those trades are to be done codedly right then and there.
A note about information/clues: To save everyone a lot of headache and AP, please use the IOU book object and do not codedly share any clues during the event. Information and clues should come with the expectation of having a scene to RP sharing that knowledge.

6. All traded items must remain on the character or on the premises of the event until the event log closes. No messengering things to people outside of the scene.

7. Anyone may refuse a trade for any reason. Making an offer does not oblige either person to accept. Be polite in your refusal, and don't pressure someone into accepting. You may negotiate, but don't pester.

8. By entering the scene, you are agreeing to follow the above rules in good faith and ask for clarifications if you are unsure. This is meant to be a fun event for people to possibly talk to characters they wouldn't and see what value different things hold to others. A four room building in the Lowers might be worth one ingot of diamondplate to one person but only worth 10000 silver to another. Relax, be cool, enjoy.

If this goes well and people enjoy it, there may be more of these scheduled. This is a complete trial run of the idea, so please be patient as it may be bumpy at first. And yes, I am offering one ingot of platinum!
