Love and Duty

The news of the betrothal between the Count's foundling, 'Lord' Orland and the Prodigal 'Lord' Savio Proscipi dashes the hopes of the people of Bravura, who had waited patiently for their neo-noble Count to ensure the stability of the realm through his own marriage, or that of his adopted son. As they realize that neither of these things will happen, and Bravura is essentially guaranteed succession wars in its near future from pretenders and ambitious claimants, productivity and wealth in Bravura plummets.
Those who have the wealth to leave quietly do so, deciding that their taxes are better spent in more traditional domains of Pravus and even returning to the Lyceum. Those who don't begin to show flagrant disregard and disrespect of the laws of Bravura, laughing at the idea of 'noble authority'. Magistrates and functionaries are mocked, with many heard to speak of the heir of the House as the 'Urchin' and the ruler as Lord Duarte Do Little. Songs are written in true Lycene style, with cutting mockery, and many in Bravura now insist on being called Lord and Lady, bowing and scraping elaborately to each other as they celebrate the destruction of tradition.
