Losing Knighthood

Posted by Apostate on 05/25/19
It's extraordinarily rare for someone to lose Knighthood, as it is more of a mark of achievement, in the same sense of someone successfully completing training, like saying someone has the knowledge of a scholar, or trained as a physician. Whether someone actively serves at arms or not, they are usually still referred to as a knight, as they have taken vows of service and understood what that meant. But there are the rare times when there's doubt whether someone ever took vows, or even has any concept at all what it means, and in those cases it's tacitly understood that any recognition of knighthood upon them was a mistake, and Lord Braden Laurent is one example, with him showing gauche behavior in questioning the popular and understood traditions of the Champions Guild and honor duels and the like, and having scorn for chivalry which is uniformly prized by all the houses of the Oathlands. He therefore had knighthood stripped from him.
