Description: There's a clarity to Selah's dark gaze that pierces: sharp as alaricite and bright as fire. For all the loveliness of her features -- smooth, dark skin; thick, black eyebrows; high, gleaming cheeks; full, lush lips -- her eyes are easily her most arresting feature. Even the luxurious veiling of dark eyelashes cannot dim the intensity of her passions, although at times she tries. She has a way of viewing things with eyes half-lidded in moments of intense contemplation -- or attempted control. Her hair is black as night and shines bright as stars. Even when tightly pinned, it's inevitable that a few dark curls of hair will attempt an escape, spiraling against the smooth and lissome curve of her neck. She has an elegant bearing, tall and graceful, but her gestures cut with sharp precision.

Personality: There's a battle going on within Selah, a constant push and pull between who she is and who she wishes she were. The ideal version of herself that she envisions herself to be. There's no one she admires more in life than her Uncle Gabriel - his steady calm, his capable brilliance, his stoic ability to say what he means to say. That's the GOAL, the Selah she dreams of at night. The reality is somewhat different; there's a roiling fire of passion in Selah's soul. She feels things intensely and has yet to master the ability to keep those feelings from bubbling up and out of her. When she's calm, she's quick and witty; but it causes her no end of frustration that this intellectual side can't simply overrule her emotional side. For better or worse, though, she's got a wide stubborn streak, so she hasn't get given up the effort.

Background: Selah was about ten years old when her mother, a Darkwater-born knight, died in the Battle of Pridehall. Old enough to have memories of the times before, but young enough that they pale in comparison to those that come after. Following the loss, there were many governesses, and her wonderful Aunt Iona and Uncle Gabriel, and only the very rare appearances of her actual father. On special occasions (and following no pattern Selah could ever discern), Rafael would sometimes take her and her siblings along with him to visit the estates of one Lord or another, which she yearned for but inevitably ended up disappointed by when it didn't actually result in any lasting increase in paternal affection.

A year or so ago, her father settled in Arx. Selah might have left their distant relationship at that, more or less content to stay in Pridehall and lead her own independent life. But in the winter of her 21st year, she suddenly relocated. To Arx, which was a surprise enough in its own right, but not quite as surprising as her sudden affiliation with the Inquisition.

Name Summary
Anisha In many ways, I suspect lady Selah and I are opposites. She enjoys a good puzzle, but she wants to see the solution on the horizon. Me, I've always appreciated a mystery for being a mystery. Seeing what comes tumbling out is always thrilling, even if it only raises more questions. And for me, people are the ultimate passion and the ultimate mystery. Each individual worth a life-time of that exploration. I may not be able to offer a lifetime... But a person's passion is always worth paying attention to. I salute her, and I wish her the best of luck with her puzzles. And who knows? Maybe I'll be able to provide a piece or two for her... If the right subject comes up.
Evaristo Impeccable lady, gracious and stylish, with no issues talking to a commoner it seems. Great to see Josie's jewelry being worn, too!
Joaquin This Lady values her education, for I'm quite sure otherwise she'd have tried throwing her book at my head. An experience indeed, and an amusing one!
Martino Good Lady Bisland and one not seen in quite a while. We agree, it seems, on the art we saw together being quite odd. Now being a fellow Inquisitor, it will next be about how we can aid each other.
Niklas Seems a decent sort. Not overly friendly, but Bislands always take a bit. I'm sure we'll be friends soon enough!
Orelia Uptight and brainy. I bet she could go one about her interests forever with a couple drinks in her.
Rafael Where family is concerned, the coiffure is an irrelevance.
Raziel Another Bisland in the Inquisition. Future will tell whether I should feel pride or shame at the fact.
Samael Rafael's daughter and therefore my niece. Still working on her art critique, but an eloquent and perceptive young Lady.
Zoey My inquisitive younger cousin who could do with more support from the family.
