Action by Sparte

Soup Stones are a tradition to some families, wives tales to others. Some talk about them being used to fool villagers, and others would have one hang in the kitchen.

I'd like to introduce a Soup Stone into the world of Arx as one of Sparte's belongings.

The concept of the soup stone: When times are plentiful, the stone was always put into the pot to cook with stews, and soups, and broths and soak up a bit of them into itself. When times are hard, when food is lacking, you put the soup stone into the pot with what you have. Maybe it is just some water and potatoes. Yet as you eat the soup, it seems like maybe you taste some chicken or beef or seasonings, and you feel more nourished for it. Whether that is just flavor leeching out of the stone or something more meaningful is one of those things up for debate, but Sparte will be confident in his soup stone and swear by it as he tries to hearten his fellow guards despite the rationing underway.

Result

Most of those living in Arx aren't very superstitious, but that doesn't mean they won't honor a fairly benign and harmless tradition. While some privately might think it's a bit silly, others like the idea, particularly when there's a siege on and food could become scarce without warning. At least within the guard, soup stones become a thing. How far does it spread beyond that? Who can say.
