Marquis Rien Blackram
To defeat an enemy, you must know them. Not simply their tactics, but their history, philosophy, art.
Obituary: The body of Marquis-Consort Rien Blackram was found out in the wilderness, his death is the result of presumed animal attack.
Description: This man has black hair that comes down to his shoulders, flowing and thick in texture. His features, darkened by extended time in the sun, give him a near olive complexion that cause his dark eyes to set well upon him. There is the barest hint of growth of beard upon his face. His frame is muscular but thin, carrying an athletic vibrancy to it.
Personality: Thoughtful, determined, but prone to fits of whimsy. In the field and at sea, Rien is a man of dedicated purpose. An expert at strategy, he carries those skills into every walk of life. Though an educated man, most of his education is around the art of war and knighthood, but that includes history as well and he can hold his own at any dinner table. Outside of official duties, however, he tends to enjoy a good drink and a good joke.
Background: Rien, the middle child of Tyrgar Thrax and the late Queen lived his life in the shadow of his eldest brother, both loathing this and idolizing him. Much of his upbringing was in constant comparison to Tyrus, the comparisons never ceasing and in all things. This drove Rien to a quiet contemplation. While his sister was sick, he would read with her to try to outpace his older brother, he would work harder, train further but always felt to be in the shadow of Tyrus.
Too young by a year to join the war of the Rebellion, Rien would find his footing serving in attempting to hunt pirates, sometimes under the command of his brother. When Tyrus was lost at sea, presumed dead, it devestated Rein and drove him to even further focus upon mastering the seas, mastering his enemies. His social ties dwindled, his obsessiveness grew and he drew in upon himself even further. His sister, daring her illness, came to him to help draw Rien from the depths of this sorrow and help him direct his gaze once more on growth rather than sorrow.
Rien's service to family continued, his mastery of strategy at the seas and upon the lands growing him recognition. It was a matter of political necessity in which he found himself to be married to Teegan, an arrangement which he was not looking forward to. Arriving upon Arx to carry out his duties, he has spent time attempting to learn the lands and prepare himself for a new life.
