I enjoy the process, because there's always a risk. The metal can burn and the blades are sharp. One wrong move, ...but life isn't much different.
The first piece I created was one that I've spent a long time considering, an alacirite sword that is aptly named. A cutlass sword, I'm rather fond of the jagged blade. It has an eerie quality to it, I used some rather unique materials, not for the faint of heart. Luckily, mine is doing just well.
Then, there's a few pieces I made to stock-up at the boutique at Of Works Obscura. This and that, though it's hard to sell a sword, I have this urge to use them all. And for those that don't want to carry one, well, I've made miniature ones to hang around the neck.

The family is coming together. What to do, what to do. I think I have a few ideas.

At first I was not sure of what I was looking for, or even looking at. At times I doubted myself and prayed for clarity regardless of cost. When pushed past the brink I met those new thresholds with sacrifice and single-minded determination. From the corpse of challenges conquered I produced, or found, this fascinating and unexpected treasure and it is now mine.
Mine to call my own.
Mine to admire and tend to.
Mine to shape into something beautiful.

This begins the day they are born and lasts until the day they perish.
Succeed in giving their all for their name and people and they are allowed to join those same looming, larger than life generations in the annals of history as a noble who did their duty. Good job, and nothing more.
Failure means the soiling of hundreds of years of diligent work and the destruction of dozens of legacies built by their betters. It means to be remembered forever not for their qualities but as a cautionary tale.
The demanding life of a noble is not something I wish upon any commoner but like many before me I find myself unable to respect those who do not measure to the standard set by their predecessors.
It is betrayal of the most vile kind, to not live up to the demands of one's own name, that much is clear even to a commoner like me, but thankfully history is unforgiving.

They will remember us as the people who welcomed all those slaves with open arms and gave them a choice they never had.
My father died fighting that war. He died for things he very much believed in, and even if he was a much better person than I will ever be even I can tell our place in history is secured.
Before we got there the Saffron Chains never stood a chance.

Methinks that maybe lords who are more skilled with a pen shouldn't mouth off to any who write with the ink of blood.

We all have our off days but it takes a certain sort of character to consistently sound like they stumbled into the hallowed halls of Vellichor more than a little plastered.
Warriors of the Isles like to talk big, but it has always been funny to me how the greatest opposition they have sought over the centuries were helpless men, women and children to turn into slaves. It makes me doubt Lord Haakon's assessment of Lycene prowess.
He is, of course, welcome to prove me wrong anytime by publicly defeating any of our perfumed, quick to run, easy to kill duelists. I will brew the perfume myself.
