So elves have arrived in the city. Everyone's abuzz about the news. A third of the city is curious and wants to learn more about them, another third thinks they're awful and wants to be rid of them, and a final third don't give a shit. I think I may fall into the later camp, but I haven't decided yet. I stopped by the city gates when the news went through the city. They look a bit odd, but that's to be expected, considering they're mythical people that aren't human. Apparently they're also a bt crazy, which, who knows, maybe I will get along great with, considering I am a bit nutty myself.

Anyways, they're staying in the Valardin district. Of all the fealties to welcome in mythological, faith-shaking, blood-sacrificing crazy people, Valardin would have definitely been my bet. I think there's a joke being played there, and I rather like it. At some point this coming week I intend to head over and maybe chat a bit with them to see if they're my kind of crazy or just plain crazy. Either way, it should be entertaining.

Hello again, annoying chore and boring person reading this. I have dictated a few notes about people in my life to satisfy the disciples and my family, and now I get to regale you with grand tales of the eventful week. Only I won't. I refuse. The assembly hall was full of people who have probably spent a dozen octopi worth of ink on describing in detal what happened.

I guess, since the disciple of Vellichor who I am dictating to is giving me the stink-eye, I will summarize my thoughts. It was a big meeting. Information we had covered in the low council was shared with all. Votes were had. Dawn stepped down, and went off to be sacrificed for the Teind. The end. Heh, a clever bit of rhyming there, huh? Oh, more stink-eye is it? Fine.

King Alaric, riding upon his mighty steed, led a hunt, of which my father was a member, into the Night's Grove, thus interrupting the Tiend, a ritual the Twilight elves, that's the Nox'Alfar, use to keep the Sun Elves, that's the Rex'Alfar, from invading. They slaughtered the party and punished the king by casting his soul out of him to wander. Apparently we had an ancient treating with the Twilight Elves to not annoy them. Now we must make amends for being annoying and for interrupting the Teind. We must offer thirteen individual to be sacrificed and someone has to marry an elf. Why the last one, who knows? I don't think that's part of the ritual. I suspect the elves just like what they see of our very handsome and beautiful men and women. I can't blame them for that. I'm quite the looker myself. I mean I would stare into a mirror, looking at myself, all day long, you know, if that wasn't dangerous and horribly self-absorbed. Anyways, the Sun Elves are gathering an army by tricking people into thinking they're doing the work of the gods and plan to invade. We think they serve Archfiends, but really it could be because elves are just plain arses, at least from what I can tell from our interactions with them.

Regardless Dawn has her twelve volunteers and herself and she is off to complete the ritual. I think it was a bit foolish to step down so soon after taking office and putting us back into a regency crisis again, but I applaud her willingness to not have anyone do somethng that she herself will not do. That's some leadership. Though, she could have done a better job answering questions and thinking things through a bit. There is that enough? Are we done now? Stop with the stink-eye already, gods.

Relationship Note on Dawn

Former Lady Regent Dawn is or was, depending on when you read this, a fascinating woman. I have only encountered her a handful of times, but I feel, had there been more time, we would have become friends. She has a good head on her shoulders and an eye for getting to the truth. However, she is guarded, it seemed, and would make decisions, such as this most recent one, that seemed to come out of nowhere. Still, as stoic as she tries to be, she would laugh at a joke and smirk a bit at a prank. There is a bit of humor in there somewhere.

Relationship Note on Morrighan

Morrighan is the fiery servant girl that father found and let into our family. She can be stubborn, aggressive, and quite grumpy at times, but she is irreplaceable. She's caught me bathing in the Augury, disrupted a prank, and has brawled me a couple times, even. However, she can be depended on for her fierce devotion to the family and ability to listen and provide help when needed. Also, she frequently has whiskey to steal. I wouldn't trade her for the world. though, I would approve if she was a bit less punchy.

Relationship Note on Darren

My dear, deeply loved, and very stoic brother Darren is a bit of a bore at times, but at least he puts up with my antics with a smile. I think with both Deva and I, we have broken his will enough that he can't put up too much of a fight or get too angry when he finds frogs in his bed or hears we have been out drinking all night and the tavern was set on fire. That just comes with the territory of being the oldest sibling. The suffering we have put him through has been good preparation for dealing with the rigors of politics in the city, so, in essence, that tavern fire was simply my way of helping him prepare and be a better ruler. Aren't I the greatest and most thoughful brother ever?

Friends, family, and a few priests of Vellichor have been prodding me, telling me I really should write down my thoughts in this empty book reserved just for this very silly purpose. Until recently, I ignored them, but it was pointed out that, with a position under the Crown, it would look a bit poorly if I kept ignoring my duties to the gods. Here I am then, jotting down a few words to keep people happy. You, nosy person of the present or studious future person, you have better things to do than read this. Go cause some trouble, stir up a bit of chaos, bring a smile to someone's face.

Anyways, I have been living in the city for about a year now. It went from a warm, idle spring to a summer of sadness, a winter of sorrow, and now another spring, this one of tense foreboding. To liven things up and take people's minds off of present events, Lady Regent Dawn felt it a wise decision to name me to a new position, Master of Revelry. I am to organize events and monitor morale in an effort to keep the populace smiling. Lucky me!
