Did they go out of their way to tell others how great you are? Even if you're not? Did they do the best they could do to make you feel welcomed and to insist they wanted you around? But somehow that wasn't enough. You might have your reasons for your actions, but that doesn't mean the other party might not be deeply offended and deeply hurt. I recognize this is something that I did, but also that in the long run it was for the best. I can be sorry and relieved, I can find my actions unfortunate but also defend them. Sometimes the right course is only at best bittersweet.

Relationship Note on Miranda
Today I was in Bold expressions and Princess Seballa was there, Miranda and Niklas. I think it is most appropriate I leave titles off the last name and surely you will all understand and agree. Do not change the subject future scholars, or current scholars, this is all not relevant to what happened.
Anyway, here is what happened.
So Miranda and I were sitting and talking when this orphan boy comes in who is getting some things for his family. He has these wooden mugs and a tray and I guess the family were adoptive, I mean they must of been right? Anyway, he said he was an orphan and we didn't ask. So he's trying to order drinks, but he has a list and he doesn't read. Being a dear heart, Miranda, that is Lady Miranda Rubino, decides to help him. So the lady reads his list and starts to order the drinks which the staff helpfully put into his wooden mugs. There is mommy, daddy, grandpa, aunt Ester and Pet. Miranda is being helpful until she gets to the pet and asks the boy, What kind of pet do you have?
He says he has a cat. So Miranda things, well a cat, okay, milk of course, so they are doing milk but there is a problem. Namely, pets don't drink from wooden mugs, and there were no bowls. Miranda is a real dear so she gets a bowl for the boy just so it can be filled with milk for his pet. He's so thankful that he gives this radiant thousand sun sort of smile and all of our hearts just melt. Totally melt. Anyway, he is on his way out when he shouts, "Oh no, we forgot uncle Pete!" Miranda is confused, so are the rest of us, but then the family in question shows up and ushers the boy away.
It's only later that we realize Pet was Pete and that we just sent a bowl of cat milk home with the boy for his uncle.

Relationship Note on Arik
Specifically I learned how to care for a sword, from a very helpful lord.
Rule one:
You must always sleep with it under your pillow, it doesn't matter how big it is, or how big your pillow is, NO EXCUSES. Sleep with your sword under your pillow at all times.
Rule two:
You must do all things with your sword. This includes eating. It may not be the most reasonable implement, but that is how you learn to handle it. For those with a greatsword this is especially important.
Rule three:
Bathe with your sword, no exceptions!
Rule Four:
None of this will save you if you have a disagreement with the Nightingale. You might as well leave your sword at home.
Such an informative meeting!

Relationship Note on Gilroy
As someone who enjoys a good prank, I think it is on my honor to pay respects when I am the victim of such and applaud the one who pulled it.
The prank was simply that he let slip a certain Whisper was good at making sensual greetings, whatever that means, while a certain Lady Teela was blushing at the whole notion. So I thought, wouldn't it horrify her and be funny if I had a sensual greeting sent on her behalf to one of her friends. In fact it did, the whole notion got her to chuck a snowball at my face! So that part of the prank went swimmingly, but.....
Gilroy's information was, it turns out, a fabrication. The Whisper in question did not specialize in sensual greetings, nor did she much appreciate the implication there of and was made quite uncomfortable. Gilroy should enjoy knowing that the whole mess got me a talking to from one of their Radiants, whom I am to understand is their head of house.
Needless to say Gilroy, well played. Well played indeed.
Now if you will excuse me I shall be doing my utmost to avoid any and all Whispers for a while until a suitable time has passed that they forget being angry with me. I am told they are very good at subtly making your life miserable. Maybe I shall have to make that forever.

Lady Isabetta,
While I am well-versed in cup cake combat I am no familiar with any sellcakes that specialize in that ancient martial art.
X
This missive is perfect context and portrays my frame of mind and the thing I am attempting to currently accomplish. Both sides will likely be seeking to muster their forces and indeed sellcakes maybe in high demand.

Too many parties and events around this city breaks into little social circles, hardly room for meeting new people; or maybe I'm wrong.

Relationship Note on Cadenza
Okay, here goes. For my turn I will task Lady Cadenza must be Lord Cadenza and Ignacio, obviously, Lady Ignacio. For an entire day. As Princess Elgana, Agatha and Echo my witness, as Lady Freckles, Lord Luis and . . I think that was the only people there when I left.
We must make sure these two fulfill their solemn duty and obey this request.
After all the truth was inescapable. Just Ask Princess Isidora.. I think that was her name. There was an awful lot of wine and I think some brandy and I am certain there was some cider and grapes. Lots of grapes.

Relationship Note on Talen
Talen is certainly an exception to this. He is quite vexing no? Everyone can see it, be it someone alive now to experience this vex, or one not born for hundreds of years, they will look back, at the story of Talen and understand vex. Now am I particularly vexed by him, not as most, but rather a product of. As someone whom rather enjoys the art of the vex, what vexes me is to be out vexed, or perhaps out vexing by such a vexing little vex as that vex.
So there are few things worthy of gripe and complaint, and to speak poorly of someone whom I find vexing or worse is truly beneath me. I only wish it were so easy to pretend Talen did not exist.

Luckily none of my friends know any better, but it likely only a matter of time before one of them shows up and demands to see the brooms. This is a problem. I do not wish to disappoint my friends. Now the friends in question were largely princesses, well half princesses, one lady of Kennex (with a huge room) and Joslyn. But still.
I've no idea how or where to acquire brooms, perhaps if I follow some of the servants around long enough they'll lead me to an actual broom closet which I can pilfer the contents of, but then would my room become overly dusty? This matter requires careful thought and consideration. What would be best is if my broom closet room make over could be done in a fashionable manner. Surely this is not too much to ask.
On another note, I've still not fully grasped the difference between this white journal and black journal.

I came here to accomplish something and I will accomplish it. Surely when that is over having a voice in Caith while Stefano is in Arx would be perfectly acceptable. Desirable even. Perhaps I could groom my sister to rule in case Stefano ever steps aside and does not have children.
It is past time I redouble my efforts to complete my objective and then go home.

Relationship Note on Joslyn
What is known is that Lady Joslyn was a capable warrior, spoken in the past tense as though this were hundreds of years later. However, what may not have been captured is how, exactly.
No doubt when you imagine a Lady Joslyn who does not wear armor winning in matches, you are imagining perhaps a wrap, light cloth to keep yourself minimally protective and maximally agile. No doubt you are imagining real weapons, perhaps a buckler shield and a long knife, or a hand axe. Perhaps a club. Maybe you are imagining someone so proficient with her hands she can disarm anyone quickly and effectively in her leather footwraps and a tight shift. If you have this picture and you wonder what folly we are to underestimate her then you, future historian, are imagining lady Joslyn wrong.
To fully appreciate why doubt is so common about her talents, especially when compared to a Princess Reese, also known for her prowess, or Dame Alexis, you need to know something about Lady Joslyn. Sure Princess Reese is eccentric, at least in her choice of armor color, no doubt the preference for pink has made it through the annuals of history. Let me write it is all true. All of it. Sure Dame Alexis is, well, normal. Strong, well armored, big sword. Precisely the sort of way you would expect a capable and well known warrior of our age to arm themselves. I can only imagine how you, future reader, will dress your soldiers. No doubt in much thicker plate and longer swords. However, this is all a distraction from the topic at hand. Lady Joslyn.
No your view was wrong. She does not dress in light leathers, or even tightly wrapped cloth for agility. She does not wield a fast knife with a buckler, or a hand axe, or even a club. Lady Joslyn fights in something much closer to a ballroom gown. Allow that a moment to sink in.
Are you picturing something that is likely impeding her motions? Excessive fabric for a fight, poor ventilation to cool off? Good. Now you're starting to understand the incredulity that meets her in the ring. Unfortunately I am not done yet. For her weapon I'm afraid your imagination also requires some assistance. Lady Joslyn has perfected the art of the hair stick. Now you might say, that sounds like a stiletto. A thin knife, capable of finding the gaps in armor or punching right though. However unlike a stiletto, whose handle will well fit the hand, a hair stick is rather thinner and in most cases, entirely unfit for combat. Still, somehow, Lady Joslyn makes this work.
This is not to say we do not see her also fight in traditional gear. We might, I havn't, but I've heard she has taken forays into the field where a gown is even more impractical and would no doubt be defeated by thick brambles. I could be wrong, her battle gowns may accompany her anywhere, I'm sure she'll write about this to set the record straight soon, no doubt along with a duel challenge, but that is future Lady Isabetta's problem. For now let us consider the question burning in your mind. How.
First, Despite how impractical her choice of arms and armor sounds, it has some advantages, probably. The gown is made of fairly resilient materials and is surprisingly hard to damage. The excess fabric makes targeting her difficult and tying up your weapons relatively easy. The fact she is wearing it at all makes you underestimate her and yes, she is quite fit and capable on her own. Would she do better fighting without it? Who knows, even in the Lyceum it is considered silly to do battle without proper clothing.
As for the hair sticks, they basically weigh nothing. Once she gets inside the reach of your weapon I dare say Lady Joslyn has all the advantages. Suddenly the gown that seems ridiculously and unwieldy starts tripping you up and those sticks that do not seem particularly threatening are in your face.
I cannot deny that somehow she makes this all work, but I just hope you, future historian, understand exactly why she is met with such disbelief despite her reputation.

I've been frivolous during my time in Arx, but that is fine. Getting ones barrings can be very important. I know there are things Stefano wishes I would do. I know my dear friends Talen and Eleyna are happy to see my happy in what ever I pursue. I know there are questions left unanswered regarding my own family.
During that ridiculous party where fortunes were told everyone was so uptight over their own, but mine was well, I ignored it. Someone tried to help me understand it, but how could they possibly know what is meaningful to me or not. A valiant effort, but only now do I have a true grasp on what choices lay before me. Most of it is not distinct, I can be happy and maybe even give some to what Stefano hopes of me while pursing other things. However of the fortune, I do not recall precisely what it said, only that what I hunt I would fine, be it a person or godly. Some nonsense of the like.
I think I have an understanding what that may mean. There are questions of the faith I have, but there are also questions regarding people, or more specifically person I have. This is the choice, either could be all consuming and I must pick one.
I hate to be vague for the future generations who have to copy this to new parchment and wonder what was going through the minds of those past, but I promise I will update this pursuit as I have more information. If fortunes are to be believed, and I do not think that they are more than non-sense, then I will find what I seek, I just have to decide what, or whom that is.
I have decided.
Please note that the scholars may take some time preparing your journal for others to read.
