Boss has finally shed completely and he looks absolutely gorgeous. He'll probably eat well tonight and then not again for a month or two.

I have found a patron. I had quite a few replies, and fell behind in my responses and now I cannot for the life of me find those replies so that I can reply to them. I hope I haven't caused any hard feelings. I got incredibly busy for a moment stocking my wares at the market. I do so love my little stall. I wish I could spend more time there but I would freeze to death. Instead I have sent my new assistant Penelope. She's much better suited to this kind of weather.
The other day she found a lovely small, bright orange citrus for me. It's called a clementine and it was so sour, yet sweet and charming. When spring and summer comes again, I will again have to find these clementines.
In other news Boss is crankier than normal. Probably going to shed his skin again - he is looking rather fat.

With Belladonna slinking off and burying herself in the business of running a Great House, I've found myself confronted with an abundance of time on my hands.
The markets only can entertain me for so long during the week and I just don't find idleness to be my forte. I'm itching, and have a long list of things I want to do.
So it's time to find another patron.
A long term affair filled with projects. Someone that I can attend as a personal assistant. Maybe someone that needs someone to attend events with them (and as an added bonus, not embarrass them). Maybe even host with them. Maybe another Minister of Income? It would insure that we would have common goals. Maybe a Head of House.

With the city blanketed by snow, I'm happy to say I've found refuge in a beautiful winter coat made by Nina Autumndale. It's always hard to get used to when you've grown used to the feeling kissing your skin this Arxian weather where my childhood fashions will instead make you feel assaulted by a million tiny daggers, even so I'll endevour to persevere another season!
In other news the Brass Dragon's Office in the new ward has been finished and it's absolutely lovely. I look forward to holding many a meeting in its comforts.

Are people not free to make their own choices? Is it not the will of Skald that everyone should be empowered to forge their own destiny?
If offering the people of Arx a choice is theft, are they then property? Has the Marquessa of Keaton become a proponent of Slavery?
I'm sure none of us want to see people suffer in vain and House Seraceni are trying to do their part in sharing of what they have, just like I too will attempt to do my part in ensuring the people of Arx will have their deserved opportunities for food and work.

Where there is charity, there is failure. Charity is the symptom of a system unable to provide. What kind of loyalty are you due as a liege when the only barrier between the life and death of your subjects is the mercy of others willingness to share?
It's not charity that the hungry of Arx need, they need sustainable solutions. They need to know there's a place for them in the machinations of the nobility and not just when it's convenient. Why don't we craft something better?

Relationship Note on Arik
With the charm typical to northern lords, Arik does an exemplary job illustrating why Steelsilk is a fabric unlike any other and why working it requires more then just skill with needle and scissor. Taking a fabric that will never give way and turning it into a worthy piece of clothing takes deep understanding and craftsmanship the results of which I'll never cease to appreciate.

I am overseeing the development of a new port in the Saffron Chain, the first of its kind in this unfortunately underdeveloped part of the world and I invite those with ambition and vision to reserve their place in what I'm sure will become an extraordinarily busy dock.
Some short-sighted people appear to have confused this for a fund-raiser and I want to be absolutely clear it is not, the insinuation is frankly insulting. The fact of the matter is that as our influence over the Saffron Chain expands, trade with the isles will massively increase and I want to ensure we develop a relationship with the right kind of merchants to handle the task at hand. After spending some time sharing fascinating stories with other collectors of wondrous tales, I'm wondering if there would be some appetite here in Arx for a get together where we all talk about our favorite ancient tales about the likes of Gryphons, Dragons and even Trees perhaps. Or maybe not, I'll have nightmares about those tall trees beyond the wall at this rate.

I caught a glance at your horrifying thought about the potential source of the Steelsilk that you wear, preciously imported from Cardia. I hope you'll be happy to hear that the process of making Steelsilk is at once much more horrifying and much more wondrous then collecting silken threads from worms. Anyone who wears steelsilk is wearing the result of an intricate process that defies the mind itself to create an impossible fabric, a treasure built upon the sacrifices of the craftsmen who made it.
