I do enjoy a sparkling White from time to time. I am not sure I have tried the Oathlands fare, but I do know I enjoy Oathlands Whiskey too. While there are a many knights and others who do forswear alcohol, it is by no means universal. Some of my favorite drinking partners are from the Oathlands.

To whom it may concern,
I refused the challenge because I do not agree that we need one.
The story between Marquis Leary and myself is one that should be addressed between us, and all of these thoughts that I dishonor Gloria and the like? Completely untrue. As are the wild tales that Whisper Bliss has been spreading about me. I do not know who has paid her to smear my name in such fashion but I assume they are getting their moneys worth.
If I had accepted the duel challenge, and my champion had lost, the result would be the same as if I had never accepted the challenge at all. As such, my refusal is tacitly yes, I did reference Marquis Leary in the Whites earlier today. It is indeed possible that the writing could be construed as rude and/or insulting. I however do not believe that every grievance need be aired in such public fashion, or even automatically brought to a duel.
Communication is the key in which understanding is brought. There was no attempt to communicate at all.
Thus, I admit to having wronged Marquis Leary by my refusal. I apologize for any slight, real or imagined, that I may have done to Marquis Leary and/or his House by my actions or inactions. I will endeavor to avoid doing so in the future and hope that such is returned.

What an interesting individual! There is something about him that makes me think he could be quite the swordsman some day should he choose to go down that path but I don't know if that is the path he sees for himself. It's a lonely and far less social road than what otherwise could be taken and it is not for everyone but, I will definitely try to help and train him up if he wishes to continue down that path.

Had the pleasure of meeting Princess Avaline today at the Ambassador with Lady Isabetta. Wish I would have had more time to spend conversing before being interrupted but such is the nature of public places. It never fails to amaze me at the gall some people have in the way they show their disrespect. It does not bode well for their families.
Especially when they know they are in the wrong.

I have decided I need another Protege. It is good having one, but, with my abilities more martial in focus, I truly do need another just for the assistance. It is quite vexing as I am unsure whom I know who could /be/ a protege to me, and is not already a protege to someone else.

It seems an odd thing to be writing, but, time and time again I have seen people behave in ways that are rather disrespectful to others. Discounting their rank or relationships with others. It makes me wonder when we abandoned even the pretense of respect and civility, the devotion to our vows, oaths, and everything that makes the Compact great. Makes Arx great. It's like people have forgotten that we are still in grave danger, that people are still being killed, even right here in Arx itself.

Got to spar with Princess Marian finally, she'd been pregnant when we first talked about it.
Was a hell of a fight, never had a spar last that long but we were wearing leathers and using tournament practice swords since Dame Edelma has my steel still.
She's a tremendous fighter, can't wait to do it again when she is fully recovered from the twins.
Have to give her an opportunity for a rematch win.
I am sure we'll be sparring a lot more to help her get back into fighting shape. Looking forwards to it.

Fortunately it is an easy thing to get another ball. Most leather shops have a ton of scraps laying around and sewing them around a ball of wood or cork is not hard at all. Though for Tempest I think we'll need to come up with a better idea, maybe something made of bone or rawhide... hmm. I'll give it some thought.

I want everyone to know that is not Princess Astraea Redrain.
Princess Astraea is a dear friend who has bested me twice now on the sands, and in the middle of our last spar a wager was made. I lost. That was the results of the loss of the wager. It was not an announcement of anything. It was meant only for fun and to honor the wager as Limerance demands.
I apologize for any confusion.
It was a very good fight though.

If you're truly interested in wrestling a shark, which I do not advise, all one must do is splash around in the ocean waters like a wounded fish. It helps if there is blood in the water too.
Honestly though Princess, there are sharks that are big enough to swallow you whole in one bite out there. I was recently visiting my sister Alarissa at the Thrax Estate, and they have these jaws of a shark that are big enough to swallow /the room/ put up in a place aptly named 'The Maw'.
Some things even bears should not push their luck on.
