Perhaps it is that I still learn the language but your question confuses me, Highness. If they did not lift my writs...yes? This would prove something else entirely? If that happens in other countries it is terrible. But it did not and does not happen in mine, I am here to prove that they are lifted when requested, so...thank you for helping me to imagine this flight of fancy that does not touch on reality in Jadairal. That is the phrase, yes? Flight of fancy?

What if the sun rose blue tomorrow?
I would not be standing here to say
what if.

Relationship Note on Tyrus

As I understand, you ask if people are willing to follow through with their call or if it is mere words? I must admit, I never picked up this call - it does not sit easy on my lips. It makes things seem....personal. Yet fighting slavery is a cause the Templars have put themselves to with greater enthusiasm in recent months, it is a cause we bear even if I might frame it different to Prima Shard.

You ask if, knowing that those we kill have children, that they may see the killing of those slavers, if knowing that these things will have repurcussions, would we stay our hand? The answer is simple for a Templar. We know the cause is righteous, that slavery goes against the commands of the Gods. We will do what we can to minimise impact, and in the battle always protect the innocent, and yet. No. While the pace of holy progress can perhaps alter, it cannot be stopped.

I recently had cause to say "death to slavers". A phrase I still stand by. Tho it did not fail to occur to me that I was once a slaver. As were you.

So obviously things can change. We see it in the movement in the Isles and we see it in our new friends from Eurus. Still, I do think there is probably a cut off point where someone has to say, okay, things are changing for the better and that's great but the slaves probably deserve a little decisive action right now.

Of course maybe it's metaphorical. A stop to the concept of slavery and a metaphorical death to those who own the chains.

But really, if someone wants to pull Duke Ivan's skeleton out through his face, I'm not going to be too concerned about the ethical ramifications.

Your dilemma has no good answer and only one right one: to love someone is to grant them the freedom to choose their own path.

I am no Whisper, and certainly not the Softest.

But I have a decent method of teaching, I have been told. And possibly a few of the skills that you were alluding to.

Just so you can spread the burden out, of course.

Few people, with so few words, have done so much.

Twice.

When a howl of pain can be heard from so far away, when sound does not even need to be carried by the wind nor words formed for one to hear -- and answer with near-immediacy --

There is no doubt:

This is a true friend.

I think there are two points I would clarify. The first is that obviously I speak from the view of the Orthodoxy on that - there are variations in doctrine, that approach is my own. The second is that there is a difference, I think that you acknowledge, between asking questions for understanding and questioning the nature of something. The Godsworn are there to help guide people, to educate them on what things are with the divine, and the ways of our people - I would encourage all to speak to the Archlectors, the Legates, the other Godsworn in the city - it is a boon to have so many here, to be able to discover all the facets of the Gods from those most learned. It is questioning the nature of things, of doubting, those fundamental truths which gives me discomfort - that is all.

My patron is most benevolent and it is truly an honor to work alongside him. Together we have been able to move and allocate funds and resources for his various projects and charitable works. I am forever grateful for his hands on instructional approach to navigating these unchartered waters. He has been quite instrumental in my life thus far. I hope to be able to give back all he has bestowed upon me.

Relationship Note on Tyrus

I have been quite frustrated as of late, which is somewhat hard for me to admit. I try to be positive and hopeful even in the smallest of things, but I suppose we are all prone to moments when that is a challenge; I am certainly not immune. Perhaps it is even good to take a step back to let those feelings burn themselves out over a day or three. I am still frustrated, but upon reviewing some of the whites in an effort to catch up on things, these words somewhat struck me: "Some questions must be asked whose answers cannot be found in tomes. If there even are answers."

Maybe I need to seek answers outside of the archives. Maybe there aren't even any answers left to be found on parchment, or at all. Whatever the case, the words were like the sort of snap someone gives to another who appears too lost in thought. You blink yourself out of the self-centered darkness and regain hope that, perhaps, what you seek might be found down a different path.

Ya were born with a silver spoon up yer arse, prince. Sometimes them of us who ain't gotta rich noble family to bathe us in finery 'n food, gotta take it when we ain't gotta way to make it. Not all pirates be the same, some simply be lads that ain't had a choice, shoved into the life it by one ruthless leader or the next, less they be cut down fer sayin no. Some aye, be choosin it, but some be seein it as a quick way to a full belly 'n some silver fer their trouble.

Aye, the next time when ya cuttin down a lad of eighteen springs 'n callin it duty 'n givin no thought to why they be there, remember, you ain't no better fer this world than me, mate.

There were fewer children of that war than many, your highness - when Donrai ordered Tyde Hall taken he wished none of my blood left save the one child he took as a ward. Few, noble or commoner, escaped that. The only taking care of children when it came to me and my sister that Donrai would have wished was to end us - I am not sure if we were overlooked or if even Donrai did not dare attack a Grayson duchy to try to finish the deeds.

But you are right, there was much blood. And these things are facts, not things to be emotional over. And most if it simply the way of the Isles. When the banners were raised and war fought, both sides knew it was to an end. Look at Lord Darrow Darkwater's family and their fate. The isles seem to have always believed the kindest way to wage a war is in totality - the least overall suffering is to ensure in future there will be no second war, no third.

I am happy those times are gone, happy to consider House Thrax friends rather than fear their banner appearing at night. Eventually I hope all of the scars of that conflict can be undone, I hope that houses can be restored, lands returned, that we can find all who are lost and need to be found. But I do not know if we can say the children of that war were looked after. I fear my cousin Reveka is testament that many of the children of that war took the one thing that they were given - a lesson.

The wren has many admirers. Many of them have realized that her affections seem to be purchased with snacks. However, few of them take the extra step of offering them to her like proper gifts, one ripe little berry at a time. It is not the fruit that I take issue with, it is the quantity. And the delivery. At least Mistress Arcuri gives her proper seeds, in a little dish.

Not her weight in fruit.

Do you have any idea what so much fruit does to a little bird?

Please. Stop.

I learned some time ago not to apologize for the truth.

Finer minds better versed in animal husbandry than I could surely fill pages about the proper ratio of feed to work required to keep something as small in proper shape. Impromptu buffets of berries (and nuts, and seeds, and muffins) far exceed that, and there is nothing I can do to persuade her that she ought to be eating less and doing more, especially when she is so taken with her admirers.

Loyal and devoted though she might be, I must ask you to cease and desist, or at least exercise some restraint. Surely you have more self control than a wren.
