Relationship Note on Sirius

It isn't easy, my prince. When the laughter dies and the silence fills up that space. When joy is cut off with one deft move and the quiet rushes in louder than it has any right to be... it hurts. Silence isn't empty, it's full. It's a painful fullness.

Relationship Note on Sirius

He'd better not 'lose' that dog I gave him.

Though some puppy training might go a long way as he's just full of "surprises". (Poop. He's full of poop).

He's a joy, no really. Sirius already loves him I'm certain of it.

Courvoisier has taken a shine to the little terror-ier and protects him fiercely with tooth and claw. Hides under Sirius' bed to tag him when he tries to fish Junior out. I don't think the Prince has figured out it's Cour yet.

Relationship Note on Sirius

Stout. Tall. Resilient.

You have so many things wrong about us northerners. Especially those from the far north. Our environment is not what shapes us as you'd like to believe.

I am not tall, far from it. It's an oddity for my family. My father, well, he was a giant in my eyes. He was tall most certainly, but in my young eyes he was bigger than life. His laugh could shake walls. His hand reached up could brush the sky and his heart could hold endless love for us. He called me pocket-size for my height and I loved snuggling into his furs and having him pretend I was tucked into his pocket when he carried me off to bed at night. My father was all you said. Stout. Tall. Resilient. What you missed was that he was kind. He was funny. He was brave and he sacrificed his life so I can be here. That I can be safe and happy and free. It is his laughter at how I would always get flour on my nose that I remember when I bake bread or how his coat would tickle my nose whenever a new fur pelt arrives.

The far north is dangerous most certainly. But the people are not. They are kind and brave and complex like any other person. Our resilence does not come from our environment, but from our compassion to see others survive and prosper where others would chose to forget life existed.

Thanks to him, I won't have to worry about my desk chair acting up again. He really taught it a lesson.

Antiques - who needs those anyway!

Prince Sirius, I am becoming increasingly worried that you don't actually know what ships are. I've sent you some literature on the subject, out of concern.

Relationship Note on Sirius

Prince Sirius Valardin is perhaps unaware that I have spent a great deal of time and energy cultivating the image of the average rum-soaked swashbuckler, and is heedless of the damage he is causing to that reputation with his reckless praise. I ask that any reading his or my Whites discard his assessment of my character immediately.

Jokes aside, it's not for me to judge my own moral integrity and the quality of my character, so I shall simply be grateful that his Highness views me that way. He is right, my penchant for ships (not boats, my Prince, /ships./ You cause me minor but lasting pain whenever you confuse these terms) does make elements of the Capital far more bearable, and I recommend that if he ever feels trapped by duty or expectation that he get himself one. Honestly, sailing is not that hard.

Once I do finally acquire a caravel for Blackshore, he shall have to accompany me on a cruise and learn the basics. There's a certain liberation to a voyage, a feeling of simple fulfilment and peace to working with other minds and hands to make an vessel ride the wind. It's also fun; something that has been in short supply as of late.

Relationship Note on Sirius

Prince Sirius Valardin - you do me a great honor with such words in the whites. That you trusted me with a commission of such importance, as well, leaves me both humbled and appreciative. It was your vision that brought it to life, really. I hope the blade serves you well and for many years yet to come.
