Met a giant of a Shav today in his shop, and he was something to behold. He seemed a pleasant man, for all his gruffness. His appreciation for Princess Reese was heartwarming, and his offer of help making a sympathy gift for a friend of mine was very pleasant. I look forward to speaking to him more in the future. As long as he behaves.

Relationship Note on Shadow
Dear gods, what have I said yes to.
The wedding of my cousin and his beloved draws near and I have been called on to assist Shadow with preparations for the ceremony.
Of course I said yes. How could I not? I feel rather protective of this mountain of a man from the North, though in truth he could snap me (and likely half the city) in two, if he had mind to. But there is an honest gentleness there and something about him that makes me determined to see to his well being and to keep him from harm.
And so I have agreed. Thought this may prove more complicated than both of us bargained for.
In truth, I am not sure how it will go, but I remain optimistic for a happy result. I think we will both be pleasantly surprised.
I just hope we both survive the process.

I had not expected to receive such kindness from such a large and intimidating man. Nor did I think that such lovely crafts could come from someone whose hands looked so rough.
It's easy to become lost in the noble way of seeing things. I'm ashamed for judging him, for forgetting that people are more than the sum of their looks and social standing.
Shadow didn't judge me. He was kind and accepted my offer of help without trying to take advantage of me.
It's funny how I look forward to running errands for an injured commoner more than I do spending time with my fellows.

Relationship Note on Shadow
The Compact-born speak of Prodigals as if we were all the same. One amorphous tribe out in the wildlands. Not thousands of tribes, thousands of tongues that do not speak with each other. It insults me. And yet, when I find another who bent the knee and knows the weight of that, my instinct is to embrace him as a brother. We are nothing alike, yet share much. I pray he is successful in his attempt to fight the darkness that surrounds us. And I wonder how like him I was, when I first bent the knee. Is that wildness still in me? I pray is it, somewhere, even if time has smoothed the edges. For I love the part of me that is like this.
