Relationship Note on Mikani
Helping Mikani with bringing blackwood to the market has allowed me to focus on helping Crovane.
I have been doing much work for Redrain and the Apothecary College and investing it back into the house.
I thank Lady Mikani for helping me when I have needed a friend to turn to.
sidenote : I am reaching out to those that know about Metals to teach me so I might invest back into the College...

if such a people exist... perhaps there is hope for the future.

Thoughts of an ...athletic small blades... student...
Mikani is absolutely one of my favourite teachers, in fact, sorry Teague, probably my favourite. She always pushes me when I'm at my absolute worst. Ever try running balance beams when you're not completely ... sober? I don't recommend it, as it winds up with there being grass stains on your face, when you face plant.
But this time, she had me reflect on the deeper parts of myself, the places that I may not fully accept as part of me. Which, as I think about it, makes sense. If we are distracted by our flaws, we will always fumble and fall. We must not make them any more in our mind than our successes. There needs to be a balance, an acceptance, and at the end of the day, awareness of all of what you were, who you are, and who you want to be.
I highly recommend Mikani as a teacher to anyone.

It is reassuring to know that House Byrne, renamed by you as a symbol of your connection and future with its people, benefited from its marriage contract with House Crovane. It may be more reassuring if Count Graham Byrne were the one stating it. I do wonder if House Redreef ever got its proper due from the marriage contract with Fireviper turned Byrne? To go from an elevated member of the family being the ruling regent of a house, above itself, to that same family member marrying up again only the new contract mentioned nothing for Redreef or one can only assume.
In all the years this has surfaced and wallowed the majority of concern over your marriages could have been put to rest by the very people you and your Lord husband keep insisting benefited from them. Mikani Crovane has a bit of a short temper but Oili has come to appreciate that side of her. It's through this short temper that Mikani tends to exhibit bursts of extraordinary bravery that would put any soldier to shame. Oili has great respect for Mikani. Both for her bravery and work as a shaman.

Spring Afternoon
A certain slant of light there is
In the failing hours of Spring
That plays throughout Mikani's hair
While she to our baby sings.
'Tis a rhyme that is full ancient
In a language I don't know,
Yet calls to mind the ocean's depths
In its rhythms and its flow.
My son, while yet he listens to
Sweet music from his mom,
Finds peace and soft serenity
In that elemental song.
Then in my lap I take the boy
And gaze there at the hearth,
Where dances bright a merry flame
While he listens to my heart,
And when he seems to tire,
I set him down to rest
In the cradle that Mikani wrought
Or from Anisha's sweet largesse.
My wife and I then show our love

Relationship Note on Mikani
I have had the privilege of going on an expedition, in the Lyceum, with my fellow Explorers. It was a delightful event, really, where my fighting skills were not really needed. We got to swim in the warm waters, diving for treasurer. We met interesting shavs, turned prodigals, and even brought them home with us! We managed to avoid the pirates lurking about, but we can go back and have at them if the owner cares for us to.
In the meantime, I've got a new employee to manage. Arrigo, aka Gio, the prodigal. Brenlin is likely to show him the ropes, but he'll likely be a guard for me. The Rubino-Zaffria guards have been a delight to have to follow me about, but Arrigo may be more appreciative of the work.
There was talk of how I could honeymoon there... Well, not -serious- talk.
Ladies, we should go swimming again soon! Find us a new derpy dolphin and such!

I am often lax in writing White Journals, as scholars see fit to hint at me every so often.
That said, I would be profoundly remiss in not marking the occasion of the Shamanic ceremony that completed the wedding between Lord Rysen and Lady Mikani Crovane. Princess Drea Redrain administered the ceremony with eloquence and grace. Lady Mikani and Lord Rysen's words also stirred the very soul. I am uncertain as to how I can describe it further. It was extremely unlike anything I have seen in a traditional noble wedding, and yet, it was as awe-inspiring in its way as any of the grandest ones that I have been blessed enough to attend.
Lady Mikani Crovane is my oldest friend. As I remarked to a fellow guest that night, the only person that I have known for longer is my own twin. I do not relish the idea of speaking emotionally in so public a venue as this, so I will be brief. I would question if Lord Rysen realizes just how lucky he is, to have wedded Lady Mikani, but truth be told, I'm quite sure he already knows.

It is somewhat concerning to see a newly ennobled Peer from the Mourning Isles play a game of leapfrog with the faith and goodwill of not only noble houses but the people which rely on those Houses for leadership. To leave Redreef for Fireviper as it is newly minted as Byrne made perfect sense. The recently formed County needed leadership and the political benefit to Redreef to have not a Consort but a full Countess is undeniable. A true sign of a Peer doing their duty and shouldering burden for their house and people.
Then to abdicate, remain as voice, and once again marry up... It shows a troubling line of thought by the Peer and what of the benefits that Redreef should have duly received from her sacrifice honoring a deathbed marriage to the former Count Gailin. One can only hope that her soul searching for a place to settle will indeed be ended with House Crovane. It is hard enough to serve one house, but to owe some form of the marriage contract value to two houses and the fealty to your new home is even harder.

I do not want to be insulting. But there are many in Arx who do not seem to understand or display an understanding of what happens to a person in a deep state of grief.
There is no such thing as an understandable and reasonable request to a person who is deep in the midst of their grief. Of course it is understandable to you. But to confront someone in the Whites with this 'reasonable' request shows a profound lack of empathy and respect. This was not put out in a desire to help someone.
I am not saying the bounty was justified or right. But explaining to someone who is in the throes of just losing a loved one how they're doing something wrong... I am at a loss that I keep having to explain this. There are ways to help someone. There are a variety of different ways. And certainly in our grief, someone should try to keep us from acting out in a way that would hurt ourselves, those around us, our environment. But that is certainly not done in an essay explaining how someone is wrong.
Finally. I'm not very good at math, but I will put this out there. Pelts at the market go from 500 silver to 5,000 per pelt. There are a lot of pelts at the market. I am confident a good portion of those pelts are wolves. Those who sell the pelts need to gain a profit, so they probably buy them from the hunters less than 5,000. I'm no merchant but I would guess anywhere from 2,000 to 4,000 while the lower quality perhaps 250 silver? Lady Moore's bounty at its peak reached 2,000 silver I believe? So depending on the quality of pelt it could roughly be, the same that it already is with certain merchants?
Would I have posted this bounty? No. I don't think it will accomplish anything, really. But again, I didn't lose a family member.
So perhaps we take a breath. The wolf population is fine and is going to be okay. But on this side of the wall I think we could use a bit more compassion and a little less outrage. Or, if we must continue with our outrage, perhaps be consistent with it and direct it to at the merchants and hunters of Arx who consistently keep us flush with leathers and furs.
Even Orathy Culler deserves to say stupid things when in the throes of grief. I hope we can all let go a little bit of these 'reasonable requests' and instead take up some more compassion for our fellows.

Mik you have always been a hard worker and a woman dedicated to the pursuits that you put your mind to. The House is lucky to have you and I am glad that you are there among my cousins to help them.
Please note that the scholars may take some time preparing your journal for others to read.
