It was very brave to write what you did, and a conversation that needed to apparently happen, but I do not think the phenomenon is specifically bound to gender.
A kiss or a grab to a man's private parts, without invite, is as equally unwanted.
I should hope the people of Arx would approach personal relationships with better judgement. There certainly needs to be more respect for each other and personal spaces in general.

You make an excellent point, though a sad one.
I'd offer to pay someone to simply beat the man outside of a duel. With perhaps multiple hired hands to help ensure a victory.
But that'd be terribly illegal and something I as an upstanding, moral citizen of Arx would never do.

Relationship Note on Larissa
I am, at heart, a people person. I gravitate towards those with passion and presence and who can laugh easily. But never in my life have I felt the draw to someone quite the way I feel it for Larissa, the Softest Whisper. Her warmth, her presence is one of tangible delight. From her beauty to her grace, she is inviting, thoughtful, unbelievably sweet. From our first conversation I felt a connection, one I am so very glad she feels in kind. This woman was meant to be my dearest friend, I wholly believe. I am so glad I came to Arx and found her. We were able to pull off an amazing Fashion Show and charity auction, and despite my fatigue this morning, I would do it all again with her at my side.
Thank you Lagoma, for changing my life by adding her to it. For healing my heart of its loneliness.

The Mistress Whisper was as charming as the whole lot of them tend to be. Pretty too, which made paying attention to her rather easy. But really, she was more than that if I'm honest to myself, which often I am. The lass was intriguing, very much so. And the fact that she found me as she did, adds to that intrigue. I might be getting old, but I still love me some intrigue, and a pretty girl. Maybe I'll get a chance to get to know her better.

A most interesting Whisper. She served Queen Genevieve, and I find myself inordinately curious about her. She and I spent an interesting morning getting to know one another, and I found myself waxing philosophic more than I normally would. She seems to think my tale is heroic. I disagree on several very fundamental levels, but I won't deny it's a little flattering that she thinks so. I am looking forward to sharing a drink with her another day, and discussing these philosophical matters in greater depth. How charming, and a pleasant change from discussion of war and guardianship, of protection and duty.

As I have already personally explained to the Softest Whisper; the fault was not that she listened but that she did not seek other perspectives on the matter besides the one overly emotional one that she received.
The auction was not a sale of a life or of a person. It was a sale of time. The auctioneer sold time and those bidding were putting a value on that time. Not a single person was bought or sold at that auction, not a single act of feigned slavery was created, and the display of people standing there to encourage the bidding were representative of their own time that they were choosing to auctioning off.
Even so, the Whisper House is united in the proclamation that they made and so is worthy of support even if there is disagreement with it.

Slavery, at it's core, is about money. Why pay people when you can force them to work for free? It's certainly easier and more profitable. It would have been easy for her to hold another charity auction. Instead, she listened, opened her mind, and agreed that there are other ways to raise funds that do not celebrate a practice that millions of people still suffer in this world.
Not everyone in The Compact is protected by law from forms of slavery.

I must praise Larissa Whisper for being able to open her mind and see things with different eyes. It was a difficult conversation, but we both learned much from it, I believe. I have much gratitude for her ability to push through and try to truly understand my grievances.
