I'm also of the mind that assisting the underserved to invest in themselves has the added benefit of investing in one's community as a whole, but it must be one's choice to accept or seek out marketable new skills. And too often, unless these opportunities are offered with stipend and boarding, being in a position to accept them takes cunning and intention on the part of the individual, and a system of support they are often without. Does the poor day-laborer not have mouths to feed? Rents to pay? Little ones and old folk to tend to? One must consider who will fill these roles while they are out learning.

I appreciate my cousin's arrival in Arx. I even appreciate how he managed to sneak right into his room and just show up to meals without me noticing his arrival. Watch out for this one.

It's always a good start to the morning when, without any kind of prompting at all, someone tells you the exact thing you have been mulling over for days. Not the worst kind of thoughts, either, or something terribly apparent, such as "You really should be wearing a cloak, it's raining outside."
I nearly had to pinch myself.

Relationship Note on Jophiel
Today's sparring proved interesting and a crowd pleaser! What was unexpected was the banter, but it was lovely!
My favorite line, from Lord Faruq, was about all the Ladies surrounding him, watching him spar. And he called out a few, referring to Lord Jophiel as Lady!
And, without missing a beat, "Lady" Jophiel had to fan "herself" when I promised to come and get "her" after I beat the ol' pirate down!
It was all in good fun and I got away with calling the Corsair Lord a pirate.
It was a good day! And best yet, I won the right to be part of the crew on his ship and hunt OTHER pirates!
