House Telmar doesn't get to simply wave away responsibility because we all know now that Everard was an honorless traitor. They should have publicly condemned Everard as soon as they heard about what he did to Bliss, not hold it as a potential condition of some negotiation. That is the very least they could have done, without any further condition.
It wasn't Everard's right to bet away House Telmar's heirloom weapon? Damn right it wasn't, but sometimes we have to live with consequences of the people who betray us. The mess Everard left behind is House Telmar's to clean up by right. The oaths he made as the _representative of House Telmar's honor_ are theirs to keep. Whether they wish they were or not.

First, much as I wish I could forbid you to die, I know such choices are not mine to make. If I could do so, obviously I would. Should the worst happen, I will do whatever it might take to see that your wishes are granted. I hate writing this, but something will be taken to the Telmarch and placed with your family so that you might rest in the place you hope. This I vow to do even if I have to make my way to the Lodge myself to accomplish it.
Second, nothing you have ever given me could be considered paltry, material or otherwise. Time, love, and laughter are the real treasures in this life. I'm honored that you'd trust me with your possessions, and the gesture itself is hardly insignificant. I prefer you come home instead.

I will say what I often, oh so very very often, to my brother Austen: if you don't come back, I will come fetch whatever conscious remnants I might of you, from where ever they may be, and then kill you myself. Any possible missing people who may be related to your not returning after such an occurrence would simply be coincidental, at best.

I woke up the other morning and almost fell over the new addition in our bedroom. To say I wasn't expecting what was gifted to us is very much an understatement. But the bassinet looks good in the room (especially now that I've moved it further from my side of the bed). It's almost as if it has always belonged there.
So thanks to you, Sir Gerard, for making mine and Joscelin's little dream more of a little reality. Ida did a good thing, choosing you.

Sir Gerard, I will record, taught me the basics of swordsmanship, the very fundamentals that I carry with me to this day. Dame Ida, meanwhile, crafted both my rubicund blade that I train with each and every day, as well as the lance I carry into tournament and battle on behalf of the King and Compact.
I am tremendously fond of them both. They both have played a formative role in my life. And I wish them all the happiness together now and in the future.
